That is that all the system can not communicate to each other on the same network but you can only connect to the internet what you are to do is to check the network places icon on the desktop and check if there is any icon of system connection if there is then click on network connections then right click on the connected icon for system connection and then click on properties then under IP address click on properties then check if the IP given to the system is not the same check for the remaining system . because the IP must not be the same for the two system or else there will be conflict in communication ok

Thanks for the info... yes, I did make sure all sharing was turned on.. the only missing factor here is the 2Wire modem.. we had a different modem, Westel, before and it worked fine... so all sharing options are still shared out..
thanks for the info... but i wouldn't be able to get out to the internet if I am not receiving the IP address from the router, right???
