I have had a similar problem that I fixed by pushing the reset button on the back at the top. You need something small to poke into the hole. It reset without loss of files or settings and worked fine. Might work?

Um honestly .... well, if it will stay on though it's blank, it should be reformattable. If it simply will not turn on even though it's fully charged ... unfortunately it's probably destined for the trash bin.
mine did the same thing. like the battery went dead.. tried to charge it a few times, from the wall outlet and from the computer. nothing happend. then just by chance more than anything else i had it pluged in to the computer when i turned on the computer and it started working. not sure if that was the fix or not. just know it didnt work when i pluged it in when the puter was already on..
"If your Zen V is dead, wont respond to anything, try this, plug it in to the computer, hold the power switch in the on position, THEN trigger the reset button, worked like a charm for mine, I had thought it a lost cause."
I'm just a guest, but my Zen has done that before. I actually had to leave it plugged to my computer for awhile (I'd like to say well over a week or two), and when I unplugged it and tried turning it on again, it turned on, but the battery was nearly dead. This has happened more than once to me, and it simply began working again after I left it sitting there for a long time. It seems that, when it blanks out like this, something is going wrong with the battery. Mine always seems dead when it finally works again. I know that's not much help, but just leaving it there worked for me. Good luck.
I have the same problem
