Hunter 44360 thermostat wiring

I currently have a Von Air digital non-programmable thermostat controlling my Trane electic a/c and heater. Where do I put the wires on a programmable Hunter 44360. Original connections are as follows:
Orange to O/W2
Red to R, Yellow to Y/Y2, Green to G, Blue to C and White to W/W1. The new tstat does not have the connection letters and seems that I have too many wires to connect. CAN ANYONE HELP????

I have attempting to replace White-Rodgers (WR) Heat Pump Themostat (non-programmable) with Hunter's (H) 44360. I have Payne Heating and Cooling Heat Pump Model: PH10JA042-B

I have made the following connections and nothing works:

    WR G connected to H G

    O " " " Y/O

    R " " " RH (I disconnected jumper to RC)

    Y " " " Y1

    W2 " " " W/B (WR had jumper wire to E)

There is a brown wire available not used by WR.

I have the same problem. The A/C side works just fine. However, when we tried the heat for the first time this morninig it would not shut off. Any suggestions?

I installed the Hunter 44360 last
spring. The A/C has worked all summer. When switched to heat the heater runs
continuously. It will not shut off at the set temperature.

I bought the hunter 44360 programmable thermostat also, and have the same problem with the heat not shutting off. I recently took off the face plate and started looking at the switchess on the back. Look for a switch that has the option "std" or "hp". I flipped the switch to the "std" position and my therrmostat has been working great in heating my home.

hope this helps,

rich

I have a Hunter Thermostat 44360 7 day Programable and I want to cancel all programs and just use it manually amy help?????

There should be a tiny unmarked hole in the front of the thermostat....if so, the thermostat 'reset' micro-switch should be under that hole. Gently stick a thin toothpick inside to depress the switch and get ready to operate it manually.

If there is no hole, separate the thermostat from its sub-base and look closely at the sub-base for a reset button.

I have a Trane heat pump, model #TWP060C300A and a Trane air handler, model #TWE065E130A. Heat pump is 5.0 ton, split system. Air handler has a variable speed motor and a 20Kw 3-phase auxiliary heat strip....

Honeywell Chronotherm thermostats have always had a great reputation for longevity and reliability. They are also much more user-friendly than the other types of programmable thermostats out there. Make sure you get one that states 2-stage heat, heat pump. T8611G will offer that for you. There are many out there that claim to be suitable for heat pumps; however, they do not have the ability to utilize your auxiliary heat strips (2nd stage of heat).
Before you attempt to replace, be sure to write the wire colors and their corresponding terminal marking on a sheet of paper........of your old thermostat. This is very important to make it easier to hook up the new thermostat. Also, before you disconnect the wires, be sure to shut off the circuit breaker to your air handling unit. You can ensure you have the right one by putting the fan switch in "ON". When you turn off the right breaker, the fan will stop running. :-)

I hope you find this information to be very helpful to you. Please don't forget to leave a rating.

Thermo smoked when elec. turned on

Where are the wires connected in the heater ? They should be on R and W, if the W is on C you are shorting the heat anticipator in the thermostat. If the unit is wired right look for a spot where the wire is rubbed thru and touching the metal housing of the heater.

Hunter 44360 thermostat wiring

If you don't have the wiring information, go here: http://www.hunterfanhq.com/tools/sales/hunter/preseason/images/owners/42710.pdf and see page 10.
If you're still having problems, go down to the furnace room and find the piece of equipment that you're wiring to.  See where the wires came from, transpose that to the information above.  Note: the wiring from the relay box should be 24 volts which is safe to handle.  Wiring inside the relay box may be 110 or more volts which is not!!!  Cut power before opening relay boxes.
As far as heater running continuously, be sure of your wiring.  You may have the gas relay lead and the fan lead reversed.  Determine if you've set the switch options for your type of heater correctly!!!  Do you hear the relay clicking in and out at or near the room temp when you change the setpoint?  If not, the unit may be defective.

Hunter 44360 problem

You probably have one of the wires reversed or have the options set incorrectly as to what type of heater you have.  Check your instructions here: http://www.hunterfanhq.com/tools/sales/hunter/preseason/images/owners/42710.pdf
