Hello Jazzist91

I have the same problem with a new laptop running windows 7. Seems like something is wrong with the win 7 driver as the 7010 scans fine with my old laptop running vista. I tried activiating the microsoft scanner and using this but this also doesn't work which is why I think it must be the scanner driver.

I also tried re-installing the brother software abd faithfully followed all instructions. No joy either.

So I don't have a solution to our problem but I guess brother will eventually fix it.

Did you get anywhere with it? If so let me know

I cannot scan my documents. I got a message from Scansnap: La destination specifiee (dossier d'enregistrement des images) est incorrecte. Specifiez une nouvelle fois la destination.

Go to the settings of Scansnap and look for save folder or destination folder. The error message usually appears when the destination folder has been deleted.

How to scan picture to upload on computer

First, ensure you are connecting the scanner to your computer. I'm assuming USB connection, and that you're using an operating system supported by this device.

Next, install the drivers and software for this device. Those should have come with an installation disc, but if you don't have that disc, you can get them from the PIXMA MP830 support site, here:
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=123&modelid=12804

To scan a single document, place the document:
1. Place the document face down on the platen glass.
2. Open the MP Navigator 2.2 software.
3. Click Scan Photo/Document.
4. Click Document Type drop-down arrow and select the type of document to be scanned. Chose from the following types.
  • Color Document(Simplex): Select this to scan one side of color documents.
  • Color Document(Duplex): Select this to scan both sides of color documents.
  • B/W Document(Simplex): Select this to scan one side of monochrome documents.
  • B/W Document(Duplex): Select this to scan both sides of monochrome documents.
  • Text(Simplex): Select this to scan one side of text documents.
  • Text(Duplex): Select this to scan both sides of text documents.
5. Click 'Specify' and set the preferences as required. Click here for detailed information

6. After making the setting changes, click 'Scan'

7. Click 'Save to PC' or 'Save as PDF file'. Save to PC is displayed when an image is captured with Scan Photo/Document or Batch Scanning

The directions for Batch Scanning, or using the ADF to scan, are shown below.
  1. Place the document(s) in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).
    1. To scan using the ADF, remove any documents from the platen glass.
    2. Open the document tray.

    3. Insert the documents face-up in the ADF and then adjust the document guides.

      Note:
When scanning using the ADF, the documents will automatically feed.

  2. On the Windows desktop, double-click 'MP Navigator 2.2'.
    1. Alternatively, on the Windows taskbar, click 'Start', point to '(All) Programs', 'Canon', then 'MP Navigator 2.2'.
    2. Then click 'MP Navigator 2.2'. MP Navigator opens.

  3. Click 'Batch Scanning'.

    * Text(Simplex): Select this to scan one side of text documents.

    * Text(Duplex): Select this to scan both sides of text documents.

  5. Click 'Specify' and set the preferences as required. Click here for detailed information.

  6. After making the setting changes, click 'Scan'.
    1. After the documents are scanned, a dialog box will appear indicating to load the next document.

Computers crashed due to an outage...cannot scan docs

Reboot the machine first. If that doesn't work, go to user tools - system settings - file transfer or interface settings (depending on the model) and enter and admin email address. Then go to admin tools and tell it to auto specify a sender. It is looking for who is sending the scan, not who is receiving it...

The scanning feature doesn't work

Make sure once you have the software installed properly that you set up the file ( address) correctly. You need to have the designation specified.

'unable to save file. the system cannot find the path specified'

Had this same problem and just fixed it. You need to actually change the button settings in Navigator. Open MP navigator and choose One-Click, then click Button Settings. You can choose a new save destination from here. Even though you are using the software instead of the button on the device, it works.

'unable to save file. the system cannot find the path specified'

Please check the location where the file saved by your Scanner and note down its size.

Also as you mentioned in your next reply, you need to go for check Device manager. Reinstall the drivers.
