Thank you Mohanchennai, but yes, it is a hardware problem, and I want to know how to fix it myself. Do you have any idea of how to change the drive belt ?

If the motor (light) does not move after a scan command, it could be a hardware problem. Try uninstalling and reinstalling of the scanner driver.

Changing the drive belt is easy. Open the box and locate the belt connecting the motor and the 'light patten'. If the belt is intact, the motor may have failed ! Check power connector to the motor. Good luck

Release carriage lock, and move carriage to replacement position. If you can not remove the lock, then turn on the printer and immediately unplug power when the carriage is moving. Then move the carriage by hand to the replacement position.

WANT TO DOWNLOAD A USER MANUAL FOR THE EPSON V500 SCANNER

Epson Perfection V500 installed. My computer recognizes it and diagnostic note says all okay. B ut when I turn on the power of the scanner, the grren light comes on in the front for about 15-20 seconds and then the scanner makes a loud grating noise and the green light turns orange and keeps flashing. No scan is attempted. TGhe noise sounds like something that should be moving can get started -- but nothing moves when you look at it. Should I take it back where I bought it?

No low beams on 2004 dodge neon

Do both the high beams work ok?
What happens when you click the low beam/high beam switch? Do you hear or feel the switch clicking when you move the switch towards you? If not them I would presume the multifunction switch is the problem

The clunking is the belt jthat moves the light is jumping the sprocket gear.
