Hitting cannot solve this problem.the horizontal deflection circuit is malfunctioning. you need to check the horizontal output, horizontal drive and the horizontal output transformer for sure

HI: Well that is a good indication you have a intermittent connection in the circuit board. Its time to take it to a repair shop. He will re-solder the poor connections. You should not need parts. Good Luck.

This is what is called the vertical IC, This is a flat ic on a heatsink and it could be label LA-______ something, I don't remember if it's 1601 location or what. also change out caps, like 100uf and 220uf, around this ic also loose connection are a problem with this too.

Printing files smaller than actual?

Because the 5500 does not print to the edge of the paper it will auto shrink the image to fit the paper ( a 36 inch wide image will shrink to 35.45" when 36" paper is used). Your image will need to be at least 0.55" narrower than the width of your paper to avoid this. so: Crop the image if you can, or use wider stock.

NO PICTURE HAS SOUND

When you say small do you mean shrunk up top and bottom as well as from side to side. You definitely have a deflection problem either horizontal or vertical. If the picture just shrunk top and bottom you have a vertical deflection problem. Do you have the service manual for your model? If not let me know and I will email you one. Describe the shrinking issue a little more and I should be able to give you some guidance.
