Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Hi! I just purchased a brand new, unopened HD-DVD A2 DVD player on eBay, fresh out of the box, The power comes on - no problem - with a 'Welcome' prompt on the player panel. Trouble is, nothing seems to happen after that. Can't get the disc tray to open, either with the remote or on the unit itself. I can't even turn the power off, unless I hold the standby button for 10 seconds (as mentioned in the manual) or unplugging the power. Have you heard of this happening before? What am I doing wrong? I really don't want to have to shlep it halfway across the city to a service depot, and it isn't really practical for me to ship it back across the country. I know - caveat emptor - and this is what you get for buying online. But I'm hoping it's just a basic problem, or something I'm doing wrong, that you can solve off the top of your head. Thanks!

Constant standby mode on philips DVD player

Hi Johnny
Please follow these steps (even if you are sure you have done them correctly :)
1) Check if something is blocking the path between the remote and the IR sensor on the DVD player.
2) Check your remote control batteries to make sure you have fresh batteries inside(try with new ones to be sure)
3) Make sure that you have inserted the batteries according to the polarity that is instructed.
4) Remove all the cables but the power supply and try to see if it works. If it does you have some faulty cable which should be replaced.
5) At last if none of the above points helps then either your DVD equipment or the remote control is faulty. You may contact your vendor demanding you guaranty wright or a service shop for diagnose and repair.
Finally , please don't forget to rate my post.
Wish you best of luck.
Best Regards

Where do i find an owners manual

Hi Joann,
I did a little research. First of all Ebay has 2 different listings.
1st is a NON working Mintek MDP-1770 same as your's that has all power adapters including the car charger, but no manual. If you get on Ebay type in this # in the search bar.. 271309709718
That is the item # and will sell for $8.99 plus $9.03 S/H. 2nd also on Ebay, is a brand new in the box with ALL extra's and manual for $22.99 plus $14.99 s/h. It is item # 141112619100. Either should work as you would also be getting an extra battery.
Good Luck!

Hookup wrong? I can't get the menu to come up for the VR375

New HD tv. Have digital cable box connected to tv., cable box connected to DVD recorder, but can't get setup menu to come up on tv screen. I had a similar problem. I have a HD tv connected to a digital cable box. I hooked up the DVD recorder with the wires it came with, but it would not play or give me the menu. However it was correctly hooked up. So the next day I connected a HDMI wire from the DVD recorder to the tv and everything works now.

Dvd player will not play hd dvd

The product was made by company called Duraband and went out of business in December of 2007.

In order to play HD Dvds you need a player that states that on the player itself or on the box when you purchased it.

Toshiba HD Dvd Player

I have heard about this but mostly with WalMart, not sure about the others nor with the timeframe. To my understanding there was a "Memo" to this effect (pdf.gif Walmart HD DVD return.pdf). You can get more information from here.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
