Programming the remote to a TV can definitely be done. I have provided
the steps below along with a few codes. You can visit the link to
look-up your model specific codes!
1.) Press and hold the clear TV button until all mode lights light up.
2.) Release and TV light will be blinking.
3.) Enter code and press #. The TV button should flash 3 times.
4.) Try functions (Volume, Power, etc..) and see if working.
5.) If no function, repeat steps 1-4 with another code.
Hello! I came across your post, and think that I can be of some assistance. These are the codes that we have for Magnavox, and steps to program the remote. I hope that they help!
1. Hold down the clear TV button until all lights light up at the top of the remote 2. Punch in a 3 digit code (provided below) 3. Press the # (POUND) button 4. Try powering the tv on/off, and the volume. If one or more of these functions do not work, start over from step 1 with a different code

or if that doesn't work, here are the instructions for a power scan, which doesn't use codes. The remote scans the TV for the correct code.
1. Hold down the Clear TV button until all lights at the top of the remote light up
2. Press the red TV POWER button
3. Press and release the up arrow on the remote about once a second until the tv turns off.
4. When it turns off, press the # (Pound) button
5. Try powering the tv on/off, and try the volume. If one or more of these functions do not work, start over at step 1 again.
You probably have the same problem that I found after I'd purchased my Viore TV (LC 26VF59), your cable box remote or dish network remote doesn't have the Viore codes built in. Bummer. I looked around and couldn't find codes for my Viore. Doubt you'll find them for yours. Here's a helpful suggestion I read about that works for me:
I bought for $20.00 a Sony RM-VL600 Easy Learn remote control from my electronics store. It's EZ because you only have to place the Sony head to head with the Viore remote, press TV setup and follow Sony's instructions to have its remote catch and learn the codes from your Viore remote. I only programmed my Sony for the Power On/Off, Vol Up/Down from my Viore remote. You back out of Setup and now your Sony will control the TV for those functions. Next you get your cable box or satellite remote put it head to head with the Sony remote, press the CABLE or SATELLITE set-up button on the Sony and then have it learn all the C or S functions you want from that remote. You do program in this mode the Power On/Off button, but you don't program the Vol Up/Down. The volume for the TV will work when you're all finished and operating under the Cable or Satellite button on the Sony remote.
Now, you press the TV button on the Sony and then the Power button. The TV turns on. Now you press the Cable or Sat button and then the Power button and the Cable or Sat box turns on. Like I said, even though now you are operating the Sony remote under the Cable or Sat button the TV volume instructions carry over to this side of the remote so you don't have to switch back to the TV button to raise or lower volume of the TV.
When I'm done watching, I hit the Power off and the cable box turns off. I then hit the TV button and again the Power off button and the TV turns off. So, it's a little inconvenient when starting and stopping, but at least you are using only one remote.
It sounds as if you have inadvertently selected the 'Aux' function. Pressing the 'TV' button (should be close to the Aux and others) should restore full control.
Since the volume generally means 'TV Volume,' this function often stays effective but the other controls will not respond, including 'Power.'
This happens to us all the time with our Dish remote which also has 4 basic functions.
If your remote transmitter is multifunction, such sa TV; DVD; and VCR operative; You may be in the wrong mode. Press the TV function first and then try to change the volume. If you still have problems, the remote may be defective.
We had this problem with a 28PW6515. The control would work for 30 seconds after switching on, then nothing. It was diagnosed as the "glue chip" which handles all the control functions. About Ā£200 to fix it as it's a surface mount chip.
