Go to SafeMode with Networking and check if the wireless is detecting any networks, if yes, issue is with the Security Software or else, reinstall the Wireless Network adpater driver from Acer recvoery manager.

It only means that either the Inverter Cable/LCD cable or the LCD itself is defective, because if you still see the contents of the laptop to an external monitor, then it means that the rest of the computer's components are working. You can have the Inverter Cable reseated or have the LCD screen replaced. Have it tested by a local technician.
it didnt destroy your wireless adapters it has probably infected the drivers for your wireless. What version of windows do you have xp,vista, windows 7?
Is your Telstra/Bigpond ADSL modem has a built-in wireless router?
If the ADSL modem has a built-in wireless router and your laptop does not have a wireless card, then you have two options to connect your laptop to the ADSL wireless router/Internet -
1. Purchase a PCMCIA wireless adapter and insert it into the PCMCIA slot in your laptop. One of my favourites is made by Netgear.
or
2. Purchase a USB wireless adapter, the only disadvantage with this solution is, it uses a USB port and if your laptop has only one USB port. This is a problem if you need to connect other USB devices. Then you also need to purchase a 4 port USB hub to give you additional USB ports.
On the bottom right hand side of the desktop you will see the wireless icon, right click on that ans click on troubleshoot problems. This will reset the adapter and assign an IP address for your your PC.
On the Aspire 5735Z, the WLAN button is on the far right side of where your laptop's power button is. That strip of buttons and lights above the keyboard area. The farthest button to the right is the wireless power button.
this happened to me once. you may try making sure that the internet you are using is connected correctly, if you have a desktop connected to the same router, than make sure the internet is working, and that ou internet provider isnt screwing up. thats how i fixed it. good luck...
