Plumber fixed the sink, now dishwasher is broken

We have a Maytag Jetclean dishwasher quiet plus. My mother's sink was clogged and it was also leaking underneath every time she tried to use it, so she called a plumber and he fixed it. But right after that the dishwasher stopped working.
When you push any of the buttons like "normal" the little red light comes on above it and the heated dry button but no noise, no anything. When you push the Drain/off button it makes a noise where it sounds like it's trying to work but you can tell there's no water being sucked into the machine.

The machine is installed under a cabinet so I can't pull it out or anything like that. I looked underneath it and it seemed like all tubes and things were connected properly. There is a thingy on the right hand side that looks like it should have water in it but there's nothing in it, I don't know what that is.

I pulled on the mushroom looking things in the dishwasher and nothing is stuck.

When I looked underneath the machine it looked like mice had been living under there in the insulation, could mice have messed up the machine?

I also looked to see if the plumber had shut off the water to the dishwasher and I really couldn't tell. I turned knobs under the sink and nothing happened, is there another knob that could have been turned off?

Please let me know if I need to get another repairman in here because this is just getting ridiculous. Thanks.

Sounds like the water is off, too coincedantal to brek after the plumber is there, the hot water under the sink is where the water supply to d/w is. obviously youre hot water at sink is working, there shloud be a sperate on/off valve for the d/w somewhere nearby

Maytag jetclean quiet plus fills but wont wash or drain.

The mother board is going out, or the drain pump is failing. Try un plugging it...... by which i mean turning the power off to the unit and doing a soft reset. See if it recycles into the normal mode and works.

My mother has cancer so needs me to research her problem with her dishwasher. My mother's sink drain water is emptying into the dishwasher. It has to be manually removed since she does not cook much and...

Problems associated with water from the kitchen sink back filling into the dishwasher are caused by the drain line on the dishwasher not having a high end loop. In simple terms, the dishwasher line is too low and is providing a path for the water to flow in the wrong direction. Reposition the drain line so that it loops just above the sink drain. Then, anchor it to the wall so that it does not move. This will provide and air gap and creates just enough resistance to keep the sink water from entering the dishwasher. I have included a link to a webpage that illustrates what I am referring to:

If you have any further questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: If you are experiencing problems with the sink draining as well, then you may have a plumbing releated issue.

Dishwasher does not drain

The drain runs from the dishwasher into either the side of your garbage disposal, or directly into your sink drain. If it is running to your disposal, pull the hose and make sure that the plug in the disposal (where the hose connects) is knocked out. Some have been known to install them without removing the plug. Either way, pull the hose loose and you can use a compressor to blow through it. If the air comes back through the dishwasher, then you are probably blocked in the main drain.

My Maytag dishwasher does not drain water after the wash cycle is over

Hi olabrk,
If you have a disposal make sure it is clear. You can put some icecubes in it to clean the blades and run some water through to make sure the drain is clear. If the dishwasher will still not pump out all the water check the drain line from the dishwasher to the sink drain for obstructions. If the drain is you will have to check the pump for obstructions. Sometimes glass, popcorn, toothpicks etc.... can get in the pump and prevent it from pumping out. If the pump is clear, then you will need a new pump. Good luck to you.

Water backing up into kitchen sinks

assuming your dishwasher drains into the trap coming down from the sink, you would need to check the S trap located there.
