Hi,

Many times a freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong.

After transportation or tilting one should not plug till after aprox 2 days to allow compressor oil to setle down. Switch off now and let setle for 3 days if does dot work you may have to change the copressor and vacuate the system.

unplug unit and let sit overnight evap coil is froze up

Sounde like the overload is bad on the compressor . Pull the refrig out and remove the lower panel . Attached to the side of the compressor , is the overload/relay . If the compressor is not running , replace this part . Only 2 or 3 wires connected to it . Take your model number with you when getting the part , as you didn't list it here , or a part number could have been given .

condensor in freezer could be froze up

You have a bad water valve . Both solenoids work independently of each other . 1 for the water dispensor and one for the icemaker .The icemaker when 5 degrees and harvests , tells the valve to give it water (electronically) .

the small cooling fan in the freezer compartment that sends chilled air to the food side is defective and needs replacement.  Sometimes that are only frozen stuck.

Setting it to 5 is what the manufacturer recommends. If you set it to 1 and the frig is still not cold, then you probably have a faulty cold control (thermostat)

check the mirco-switches behind the panel at the dispenser section. basically, when you depress the lever for water or ice, those levers make contact with a switch, and the switch turns on the ice dispenser motor. if the lever is pushed too hard, the switch can be knocked out of position. I had to re-position my ice switch with some duct tape.
