I would go back to make sure that its plugged in correctly. What is your PC doing when you see the Red blinking light on your hard drive? Do you hear any beeps?
You can fix it yourself. The CPU was to hot and the solder has come
off. Bad part is the solder is under the CPU and must be heated up. It
is lead free so it needs more heat then lead and you need to add flux. I
would start by getting the board out. Remove the thermal paste off the
CPU. Add flux with a flux pen. You want to get the flux under the CPU
so you might want to tip it on its side. After you have a good amount
of flux under the CPU you want to start to heat the parts around the
CPU. I would use a heat gun with temp. settings. You first want to
heat around the CPU to keep solder on the other parts from cracking.
You dont want to over heat the parts. After you preheat the board you
want to heat the CPU. It needs to be around 400 or 500 degs f. a good
15 or 30 sec. keep moving the heat gun. After heating the CPU you want
to start the cool down. Same as warming up the board but you want the
board to cool down slow. After all this you want to add New thermal
paste to the CPU. This helps transfer from the CPU. This is a must
because your PS3 is overheating as it is. After you do all this some
people say it only works for 2 to 6 weeks. Its all on how you fix the
board and how good of a job you did. I would back up your hard drive.
Then hope for the best!! good luck and i hope this helps you out.
First remove the Ram and boot the system without it. If you hear continuous two beeps, then the problem is with the Ram, you need to replace it. If nothing happens, then your cpu or your motherboard is gone.
Good luck.
Thanks for using FixYa.
i can try to help you,
do you hear the boot beep sound?
if you are not able to hear the beep sound then i suggest you to open the machine and check with the cmos battery if it is working or no.
if your cmos battery is working then have a check with Power supply.
if the power supply working then there might be a problem with your motherboard or cpu.
now let me talk about checking the ram. if you are able to remove the ram module remove it and see if u can hear a long beep sound if you are able to hear it try to clean the ram contacts with eraser and then try installing it.
i think this might help you
I don't know how to turn the system back on yet, but i can get your disk out.
Turn the PS3 off by the switch on the back, hold down the eject button whilst the PS3 is still off, then (whilst still holding the eject button) turn the PS3 back on by the switch on the back. You should hear the fan start up and the disk pop out.
hi, usually 8 beeps means that the issue with the mainboard chips as well as processor. When u turn on the machine then check for the blinking of the lights on k/b if they are blinking then processor is fine and issue with board.
