Question about Aurora Global AS501X-MS Shredder
In the reverse mode, can you help
I have an Aurora AS501X-MS that would not feed and reverse works fine. My unit has a lever and cam system to start/stop the shredding. The reason it only works in reverse is becase the finger on the lever is broken off. Without the finger the shedder has no way to sense the paper, therefore, no tripping the motor switch. The default state in AUTO is Motor-OFF. For shredding (Motor-ON) the following takes place -- as long as there is material pushing the fnger verticalthe motor will run. If there is a jam, reverse trys to push the jam out and reset the lever to the Power-On position for AUTO. [note: I have since found out a CD was inserted. This model (AS501X-MS) is not rated to shred CD/DVD,;Five (5) sheats of paper max.]
Fix: repair broken finger or buy a new part. I am trying the repair option.

This is an issue with the paper feed sensor which may be a electronic eye or a mechanical switch if it is mecanical you may just have to jiggle the switch a few times, occasionally paper may get stuck behind it not letting it activate. If it is electronic you have bad sensors or bad pc board and you'll have to contact the manufacturer for further info.

SOURCE: My shedder won't spin at
Try cleaning the "eys" in the middle where you insert the paper...if that dosn't do it it is likely you have lost the PCB inside...call Royal at 1-800-524-0799 for parts assistance.
