Hi ,
I understand from your mail that the power pin in the unit has been broken.
contact the Technical Support at 1-800-707-9971 so that they will give you a RA number and the address for the repair center.

Can a broken pin in the charging port of a Magellan 4040 Maestro Gps be repaired

yes,

the folowing advice pertains to the following magellan gps systems.

Magellan 800, 860, 2000, 2200t, 2500, 3000, 3050, 3100, 3140, 4000, 4040, 4050 and 6000t

i fix these and many other magellan gps daily so when considering my advice , please understand i do not google my solutions.

assuming your car charger is working (the little green light is on) and your magellan still wont start up after holding the power button while its plugged in for up to ten seconds and still does not start..read below

this is actually a very common problem with these magellan power ports...they are poor quality from the factory and always and i mean always fail..the new ports that you find on ebay are 100% better then the factory port.

if your able to replace that power port yourself, you can get one HERE, if not, ask the fellow that sells them for help.

due to some dubious "experts" on fixya, im not permitted to help you directly, but please follow the link above to get further help.

let me know if you need more help or info

Have a 4040 maestro magellan will not get off the magellan screen

if this just happened, and you have not tried to update it (sometimes the update causes this) then power the 4040 on and once it finished loading to the blue screen, using a paper clip, depress the reset switch on the left side and let it restart (little pinhole on the left side under the usb port)

if you need further help, just reply to this post.

No sound on magellan maestro 4040

if the sound is enabled and not muted, a reset will normally fix the problem. find the littlew pin hole on the side, start the 4040 and then insert a paper clip in the hole to reset it and wait for it to reboot. it should be ok now, but in rare cases you might have to update it if you havent already. you can get the update HERE49181cd.gif

let me know if you need further help.

I have the Magellan Maestro 4040. The yellow power connecter has come lose/off and is inside unit. I can't seem to figure out how to open unit

You have to use small screw drivers to open unit and re-align the yellow connector. Maku sure that when all screws are undone. Pry it open carefully not to misplace or misalign any other parts. If the connectore is really broken from the connector board, we need service technician to either solder it for you or replace some parts on the connectore board itself.

Problems with Magellan Maestro? 4040 GPS power connection

Hi,

I also have the same problem - the yellow power jack has broken connections. I fixed it by soldering it back. In my unit, the connection pads under the external power jack were intact and I was able to solder the jack easily. The audio out jack nearby has also come-off the PC board, along with the pads. I am not able to re-solder these back. Since the audio jack is part of the speaker circuit I have lost the text-to-speech function!

Hope you are able to fix yours.
