Hello, Not knowing the manufacture or model of router makes it hard to answer your question. You should be able to go to manufacture web site and do a search for your problem. You can also google the model # and maybe get an answer. Give me a model # and I'll try to help. Normally there is a reset hole on back. Thanks..

Unfortunately, there is no way to recover a lost or forgotten password from a router or access point; you will need to reset the device to factory defaults. However, once the device is reset to factory defaults, you can use the default username ("admin") and password (either "password" or "1234" depending on your router) to reconfigure your router settings.
if there is a small hole in the front or back of the router push a hair pin in to reset to factory settings
hope this helps

If you do not remember the password reset the D-Link router to the Factory Default Settings
In general, to reset the D-Link to the Factory Default Settings, please follow these steps:
1. Turn off the router
2. Locate the Reset button on the back of the router.
3. Use a paper clip to press the Reset button and power on.
4. Hold for about 5 seconds (don't hold too long) and then release. (Or, release when M1 and M2 flash at the same time.)
5. After you have completed the above steps, the router will be reset to the factory default settings
Then set it up again: To access the configuration utility, open a web-browser such as Internet Explorer and enter the IP address of the router (192.168.0.1). Enter the user name (admin) and your password. Leave the password blank by default. If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Happy Holidays! Thanks, Joe
