Can not start. the correct hard disk was not found. How do I fix this. thanks.

you have to take hard drive out and format it. you will lose all your saves, but it will start working again.

Try this:
Enter Recovery Mode.

Choose "Restore PS3 System". WARNING!: This Will Delete All of Your Data!
If this doesn't fix the problem, replace your hard disk drive.

you try reformatting hard drive or restoring ps3 ? do a search for this warning u will loose and saved data on console. photos musics etc...

sounds like bad hard drive

Open up your ps3 on the right site with a small flat screw driver.
Turn out the blue screw with a small cross screw driver, slide the hard drive to the left and pull it to warts of you, note it is a 2'5 inch sata notebook harddrive.
Hook it up to a pc or mac to run a diagnostic check on it to see if it is crashed, by the way you're able to tell by the sound it makes if it crashed.

As with many of us current and former PS3 owners you need to have your HDD (hard disc drive) replaces. sorry
