Question about PC Desktops

Stuttering video stream - e.g. when downloading a clip on YouTube, it downloads ahead of the playtime, but the clip itself acts like a slideshow rather than videoplay. Im using windows XP 2002 SP2, on an Intel Celeron processor with 1.00 GHz and 128MB of RAM. How can I fix this? Thanks very much

Just went to a computer store to buy a 512MB RAM card thingy, cos I play some flashy games on this pc as well. Added it to the tower (asked the guy at the store how to do this), and bob's your uncle. Now its just as good as on a dvd player. Thanks, mate!

I would fist try updating the memory to at a minimum 256MB. You might also try changing you display card an accelerated model. My guess would be you are currently sharing memory with an onboard display card. Not good for Video streaming!

I am viewing vidoe clippings from vimeo. I would like to reduce the screen size and hear only audio so that download time will be less and hanging can be avoided

I'm sorry, but this is not a current feature on Vimeo. Pausing playback and waiting for it to buffer will decrease the likelihood of stuttering, though. You may also use websites like http://clipnabber.com/ in order to download the video and not worry about streaming it.
Thank you

Stuttering videos on you tube

It's because the video isn't downloading fast enough. When a video starts playing just hit the pause button ( || ) and do something else for 2 or 3 minutes or so. When you come back, you will see that the red line has advanced most if not all the way to the right. Then hit the play button ( > ) and your video will play without stuttering or freezing.

Stuttering videos on you tube

There could be a number of different problems;
1: Connection issues; is your internet service slow?
2: Processor; what's your processor's clock speed vs the video quality?
3: More RAM could never hurt to fix the problem. My advice to you is to pause the video and let it load entirely / buffer and all that.

I just upgraded my PC 300PL IBM computer's RAM from 128 MB, to 256 MB on each slot (3 slotes), When i watch videos from my pc, or videos from online sites, The playback is slow and choppy. I was wondering...

The problem is that the video-player on your computer is "starving" for audio/video, because your download-speed is not fast-enough to "feed" the stream.

So, when a video starts to play, click PAUSE, and wait for the download to proceed for a while; then, click PLAY, to view the already-downloaded stream.

Videos play slow & stutter

Welcome to fixya.

Since you are able to play the video, New video drivers won't add much to the perfromance.

The stuttering of the video can be of two reasons.

1) If your source cd/dvd or even the file on your comp might have been corrupted.

This can be fixed by geting a new copy of the video or to use some better video players which have a higher error correction.

2) You are running on a low RAM/CPU.

Increasing the Virtual memory can help upto a certain extent but it has a threshold and after which moving the data from Ram to virtual memory and bringing it back to ram will become a overhead to the system and will eventually slow down.

If your system has a very slow processor or has a very low RAM or you are running multiple heavy applications parrellely, Then you may need to go for a system upgrade.

MOST LONGER VIDEOS ARE SLOW AND "STUTTER' ALONG AS THEY PLAY

A video card with more onboard RAM would help cure the stuttering but it also depends on what you have running in the background. Hope this helps.

How to transmit video from one computer to many ones?

Hi hungvtst,

Depending on what kind of video you would like to "stream" (or transmit) there is a program called VLC Media Player you may download it for free. It will allow you to stream videos to many computers at once. Here's the guide on how to use VLC to start a Streaming Server.

That should put you in the right direction.

WHEN I GO TO WATCH SOMETHING ON LINE IT KEEPS FREEZING AND STUTTERING

The reason why this is happening is because the internet bandwidth may not be enough to stream the content at an acceptable speed. You can try to check if there is a lower bandwidth version of the clip but its unlikely.

If you are sure your internet connection can handle the video you are viewing, visit www.speedtest.net and run a internet speed test to determine your connection. Now compare this speed with the speed you are supposed to get for the price you pay. If this is way off, you may need to tweak your network connection slightly.

A site called DSL Reports has quite a few tools you can use to tweak your network connection.

If after using those tools you are still encountering a problem, you should contact your ISP and let them know you are having bandwidth problems.
