Re: I want to disassemble Gateway 450SX4
Nowhere: Only HP and IBM and DeLL offer parts schematics for their laptops. But if you take a look at some of those, you'll have a really good idea how to work on your Gateway, because they're all very similar.

Gateway support site for starters, and then Windows Update, and finally look up components in hardware/Device mgr. Go to the mfrs websites and download the most current ones for your hardware and operating system. If you have an Intel processor, Intel's site "Support" will scan and determine the newest Intel drivers for you. NVidia and AMD's ATI also have drivers. Realtek also provides them for their products.
Some are way deep inside, and you have to remove the top part of the case from the bottom.
Some others, you can remove the top power strip, (unscrew screws in the battery compartment, and sometimes on the bottom) and then unscrew the keyboard, and when you remove that, sometimes you can get right to it.
The only problem is, some of the laptop batteries are odd ducks, and not just the standard, they have wires or a metal tag on them. You can always order a new one onces you get to it.
the best thing for you to do is purchase a cooling base its a platform with fans in it to blow air through the laptop all the time. these are greast for the newer faster machines they tend to run hot. you will also love the difference it makes in performance
