You can buy one online, like this one at Amazon. Or go to a local electronic appliance store- they'll have them as well.

Old tapes recorded wont track speedup slow down

Hello; This can be a very complicated issue. The simplest, is a dirty control track head located on the output (or right side of the drum containing the video heads). It is just before the pinch roller. Clean well with isopropyl alcohol 91%. The second likely thing is a damaged tape, that has a creased bottom edge caused by a defective VCR that has excessive reel takeup torque that causes this tape to crease while playing it. Open the cassette door where the problem is and check the tape for a bottom crease. usually about a crease 1/32 of an inch or more from the bottom. Tapes that are creased cannot be saved. John

How can you transfer vcr movies to dvd's through the sylvania rwi-r device? thank you!

I connected my VCR player to my DVD recorder with a stabilizer filter; (a little black box) sometimes called a Digital Video Macrovision Stabilizer. These cost about fifty bucks. Play the tape hit record on your DVD recorder.

It's worth mentioning that this takes a while an eight hour tape takes eight hours to record.

I hAVE 24 in DVD triple combo ^&@$DG TV. I put

You're describing what could be a loose or worn loading belt problem, most of the vcr mechanisms used in these combos use one to load the tape and thread it for it to play or record, that is why you have to keep puhing the tape untill the machine accepts the tape and you have to keep pressing play untill it starts the play function.

I cannot program the vcr to record i just do not know how to I can play tapes or wath the disk but cannot recore

make sure the tv is on channel 3, and the vcr also on channel 3 -if trying to record from cable or satalite. then make sure tape is rewound all the way. do a test by hitting record on vcr. let it record for a few minutes. rewind it, then just hit play. Dont change any channels until you are ready to record the program of choice. After this test. And recording is successful. Rewind the tape again. And change the channel to your choice. Hit record at time of or go into menu of your vcr and set up a time to record shows.

I have no solution how to fix it. My idea is . Use the One-touch timer Recording (OTR) on page 27.
If your manual is the same as mine. My VCR recorder is broken.

Tracking

Does this happen on ALL tapes?

Depending on WHICH model VCR you have (old or new) SOME have a switch which will allow you to adjust tracking MANUALLY. When the switch is in the manual position, it won't track automatically. If some played with that switch, that could cause your problem.

ALSO, do you have a cleaning tape? If the control track head is dirty, it won't see the "control track" (which gives you VCR information to control the tracking.

Another possibility is one of the video heads (there's 2 or 4) is dirty, and without ENOUGH video signal coming off the heads, it's not possible to track properly.

Try running a cleaning tape through. If you've never done it, it might be time. Unless yu know about equipment I'd wouldn't suggest you open the machine and clean it yourself. Let me know how you make out.

Tape stuck in VCR, won't eject.

you posted 2 different problems here...
to answer this one ". The tape is stuck, won't eject and I'd like to get it out without damaging the VCR unit."...open unit, find motor that moves tape ejector and spin that motor by hand (power off)

the other problem, "the VCR will not insert a tape. It keeps rejecting it."...open unit and fully turn ejection motor until home position is reached...this is a home sensor switch not being activated.

Tapes not playing

Hey do the tapes play at all? sometimes some tapes recorded
on other machines won't play on others. maybe you need to adjust the tracking on the VCR you are playing it on. If the tape
was recorded on a VCR that is misaligned it might not play back
on another VCR. Also the tape may have been recorded on a
super VHS VCR in et (extended definition) mode if so they won't play on just any VCR. If the picture looks scrambled like a
premium channel on analog cable then it's probably recorded in et.
and if its recorded on super VHS tape it may eject out of your VCR.
They don't make these S-VHS vcrs anymore but people still
have them around. There is also Digital VHS they're not
compatible with VHS either. A VHS recorded in et mode will
play on some more expensive vcrs it should say so on the box
or instructions.
