I can't remember the username and password to logonto my ibm pc 300pl desktop pc. It's been years since I used it and I now need to get onto it to get some files off it. Can anyone advise what I can do?

If it is a password that is needed before windows OS boots, try the following.

Power off the computer, unplug the power cord (also any seperately powered devices connected to the computer. Open case; you will see a silver button battery with a diameter close to that of a nickel (BIOS battery). Note the direction the battery is oriented (positive side/negative side). Plug in computer and restart. After 30 seconds, shut down computer again, unplug power supply, reinsert battery same way it was originally oriented. Put computer case cover on, plug in computer, restart computer. No password will be required.

I have a toshiba laptop and my 5.1 speakers would not work

The easiest thing to do, i think would be to find out what sound card you have, then google the sound card info and the OS you have and there's bound to be a driver on the net somewhere, most likely on www.toshiba.co.uk
If you tell me what laptop you have i could have a go at finding it for you =)

Router problems

I've seen many routers die this way. Belkin routers have a tendency to go intermitant before they die. If your computer can get onto the net when connected to just your modem, then the router is the answer.

Try to use your laptop in the other wifi connection if it's work the problem is your router wifi configuration. But if cannot work try to check in device manager if your wifi device is working properly. in the RUN type DEVMGMT.MSC and look for your wifi device there if there is a ? mark it's mean that there is a complex configuration in the wifi. remove the wifi device in restart your computer the windows automatic detect the device in install it. try to connect if it is work but if still not work check for the ip and gateway configuration in the wifi setup.
