I just bought a 42 inch LG Plasma flat screen at the thrift store in hopes of fixing it. I paid $30 for it. The screen is in perfect condition-no scratches or cracks. It was being sold "as is" for parts. When you plug it in, the power light lights up red. When you try to turn it on, it clicks and the power light blinks green a couple times and then goes back to steady red. I would like to fix this myself without having to take it to a repair shop and pay big money to get it fixed. That is why I bought it-just took a chance for $30 that it could be fixed fairly easily. Any ideas as to what might be the problem? How can I troubleshoot this myself without having to take it to a repair shop?

Its probably a Y-sus issue if you can open it i might be able to help you more .

plasma control board defective,or plasma display defective. Solution is go to the repair store, normaly is the diagnostics is " Buy a new one"

Check the COF panels if there are SMD resistors on it,resoldering the resisters could fix the problem.

Hi , I recently had the same problem which I was determined to fix . So I did a few weeks of research to find that it was the Y SUS board which burns out. I'm sure you realized that the TV gets hot. Personally I think this is why. circuit boards don't like heat and I've learned that the cooling fans are a joke. I replaced the board and got my picture back. I proved the fan theory because after the screen started to act up. I placed a cooling fan near the vent holes on top and the problem cleared right up,It also helps if you lower the brightness which helps out on the heat situation.I will soon be adding a fan with a temp. sensor. This shoud help if your screen has lines when you initially turn the cool TV on.then I have Some other costless solutions. It can be fixed but about $300 in parts.

You have a burn in problem from watching widescreen movies.If you have access to a signal generator or tv setup disc run a perfectly white screen on the plasma for about 30 min.This should help even out the pixels on the display.
