I have a pair of computer speakers made by altec lansing - model no. ADA215. the main speaker (the one that plugs directly into the computer) still works fine, but its sister speaker no longer makes any sound while plugged into the primary speaker. i did, however, hook it up to my dvd player, and it worked fine. having established that this is a problem with the primary speaker - though the symptomatic speaker is the secondary one - i wonder if anyone can provide any circuitboard information, or any knowledge of common problems affecting this model of speakers.
i just want my music to play in stereo, instead of hearing just half of every song!
i wonder if it could be as simple as a problem with the socket that the secondary speaker plugs into?
thanks
The solution is actually quite simple, due to a design flaw. Altec lansing designed a rather cheap mini din plug-in which can either be replaced or repaired depending on your skill and patience level. Your ground contact is fine BUT the positive contact is not making connection due to the fact that the plastic housing has broken away and pulled the contact with it. This can be super glued back into place or just replaced with a new mono minidin plug-in.
control panel,administrive tools,computer management,device manager,sound,right click select properties to either troubleshoot,uninstall,rollback driver
hope this helps

here's the thing: my connection is not mini-din (i assume you mean the place where speaker2 plugs into speaker1?); it's an rca plug, i think. i'm not sure if that's the right term, but that's exactly what it looks like.
