I was thinking more allong the lines of just getting the case off so I could check the ATA/SATA connector or salvage the 2.5"!! (my friend dropped it, and now the computer refuses to recognise its presence, let allone attempt to mount it) but the case is particularly tricky and only had one ***** on the outside which doesnt seem to do anything.
It looks like this -http://www.freecom.com/ecproduct_detail.... - only its 40Gb not 80

    Cheers
    Sam

Their may be some screws on the underside of the disc, however all you will see when open is the platters & the arm that scans the plater ,not very exciting .

good luck

Freecom 400GB Hard drive not recognized.its a Freecom mobile drive xxs 400gb , my pc just cant recgnize the hard drive

I'll assume your using Windows.
I'll assume it's a USB drive.
I'll assume it is an external drive.
And I'll assume it's formatted as NTFS.

Try using the USB (or FireWire) port for anouther drive to see if that is the problem, if it is then reinstall the driver for the port, through the Computer Managment Concole (assuming yur using windows).

If you formatted the drive as FAT, re-format it as NTFS.

Can you partition a maxtor mini of 80gb ntfs to 40gb of fat

You can pretty much partition a drive however you want. Note that if you have data on the drive, you will lose it, so you need to back up what you have before you partition the drive. If it's new, then there's no problem.

Freecom external 160gb back up - laptop not recognising back-up drive. Light is on on the drive, but that's all. Help please.

All things considered, I would use a different usb cable to attach the device to your laptop and try updating chip set drivers. The north bridge controls usb hub as well as video.

EverestHome is a software I use to ID the north and south bridge chip sets, the cpu, board, bios etc.

If the external is not detected on other machines then it could be a problem with the external drive chips or connectors.

hi there,
sounds like you have a hardware problem...you should look into trying this drive on another system to see if the same thing is happening without the drive software ...and if it works try to recover all your data from this drive as soon as possible...hardware problems are most time intermittent ... so they work now then say after a while they stop...

Freecom hard drive problem?

Unless you "GHOST" or "CLONE" the programsd over to the harddrive, instead of just copy and paste, they will not open. What you will have to do mo0re than likely is remove the installation files through control panel and reinstall the program onto the external harddrive.

Freecom 250 Gb Hard Drive

Hi des,
you need to install windows XP, on a different hard-drive.
even if it,s only 10 gig plus.
You can then access the drive.
Your problem is here, is that you,ve upgraded from XP to Vista, theres a possibility, that you may have lost or even formatted your freecom hard-drive.
No-Support-Device detected, is saying that your USB devices are not functioning correctly.
Check in the bios that the USB devices are enabled, to operate your hard-drive. ( this is assuming it,s a USB drive )

Hope this helps you out.
