Graphics card problems

I recently installed a NVIDIA GeForce FX5700LE 256MB graphics card into my dell dimension 550, I also installed a new psu to meet the power requirements. I did all this to make my new samsung sinc master 226EW work to its best. Now that I have everything like it should be my monitor will randomly go to black while I am working. It does this about two to three times a day and it stays black for about a minute. Is there anything I can do?

Good Day,

The first recomendation i can make is lowering the refresh rate of the monitor. This is done by going to start>settings>control panel>display. Click the settings tab then the advanced button, click the monitor tab and then set screen refresh rate to your lowest setting typlically 60hz. Let me know what happens.

Hi Jflynn,

I'm not convinced that this is an issue with a driver, but I have to ask whether you've downloaded the latest drivers for the nVidia card.

If not, go here to download them and see if that helps.

I need driver for card

If you visit the NVIDIA web site, you will find a driver, if there is one available for the operating system you are using.
NVIDIA has a small program that you can download and run on your PC. It will examine the graphics card and operating system of your computer and suggest the proper driver program to download.

Hello, I have been using my asus vw222u monitor for a while now, connected to my dell dimension 4600 pc. I have been running the resolution at 1024x768, and been getting relatively clear pictures, but...

Your graphics card will not support that refresh rate @ 1680x1050. you may need to upgrade your graphics card.

Here is the best price/performance card for your machine. and will support upto 2048x1536 @ 85Hz

Hope this helps.

Lack of contrast and faded text

The Ultrasharp monitors need a good video card to drive the quality that you have come to know. The emachines lack the memory and quality to drive the monitor. If you don't have a 16meg video card with DVI, you will only get the basic analog qualities of the monitor. I have the same problem at work some of our older machines that have onboard graphics cards that are mediocre. However, when you plug the Ultrasharps into an NVIDIA 32meg card, the resolution is beautiful. I suspect that this is your problem.

Has anyone ever seen such? This is a screen shot of my wifes HP Laptop. Fresh driver, updated DX, hooked it to a monitor and sent this to a few friends much smarter than me on computers. Lot of trouble shooting by direction but no results yet. Anything would be greatly appreciated.
