The growling noise that you are hearing when you accelerate is likely caused by a problem with your timing chain. The timing chain is a critical component in the engine that helps to synchronize the movement of the pistons and the camshafts. If the timing chain is loose or damaged, it can cause a growling or rattling noise, especially when the engine is under load. This can be a serious issue because a faulty timing chain can cause the engine to misfire or even fail. If you are hearing this noise, it is recommended that you have your vehicle checked by a mechanic as soon as possible to diagnose and repair the problem.
Chico you need to find some local transmission shops in the yellow page, call them and ask for a price to remove, rebuild, and replace your transmission. May well exceed the value of the car, so if you decide to do it put some thought into getting a rebuilt engine at the same time so you can sit down in a car which has another 100,000 miles in it. Nothing like spending the labor money to replace the engine after you have just paid to have it taken out and replaced to swap transmissions.
catalytic converter is probably rattling, they do that when they are on the way out, performance will be effected, as it block's, engine cant exhaut properly !
