Channels won't go past 38

Hi Gary - I copied this from the RIO NIKE manual:

mode button
Press MODE to select the setting you want to change.
The normal display is replaced by the adjustable setting.
Use the + and - buttons to adjust the settings.
These are the settings you can change.
1. Main Channel (1-14)
2. Sub Channel (1-38)
3. Channel Scan (ON/OFF)
4. Sub Channel Scan (ON/OFF)
5. Button Confirmation Tone and Roger Beep ON/OFF)
6. Vox (OFF, ON LO, ON HI) (psc[communicate wxonly)
When you have proceeded through all adjustable settings, the normal display will reappear. Or, press TALK at any time to return to the normal display.

select main channel
There are 14 main channels.
To select main channels:
1. Press MODE until CHAN is displayed.
2. Press + and - keys to select the main channel.
select sub channel:
Each main channel has 38 sub channels, sometimes called
CTCSS channels. Select one of these sub channels to transmit
on a channel that is free from traffic.
To select sub channels:
1. Press MODE until SUB CHAN is displayed
2. Press + and - keys to select the sub channel.
Note :If you select channel "0," you will be able to receive transmissions from all the sub channels of the main channel you selected.

Could be a tuner but a simple way to find out is DIRECT ENTER with the remote (numbers) a channel and hit enter---if it goes to missing channel you can manually in the menu with the remote ADD each missing channel one at a time--tedious but will rule the tuner out.

Almost every set made is able to add or delete channels one at a time.

Check if any microswitches on its front panel ahs been strucked. Replace all the microswitches at the same time. it won't cost more.

It sounds like that the TV was set to skip certain channels. You need to rescan for channels or manually edit the channel list. To manually add channels, press Menu on the TV (or the equivalent key on the Sony remote if you found a code that works). Then use the Up/Down arrows (channel change keys) to select Ch Scan Memory + . Then enter the number of the channel (numerically or up and down arrows). Press + (volume + key) to change the setting from Deleted to Added or vice versa. Since you do not have the original remote, I'm not sure if the Sony remote will match the Reset key of the original remote. Unfortunately without that key being pressed twice, you can't reset the entire channel list and cause the channel search to begin automatically.

Make sure that one tv doesnt have a built in digital box and the other doesnt because if so, thats why one gets more channels than th other, otherwise, do an auto channel scan, both using the Visio and the HDTV from the same antenna output, if your still missing channles on the HDTV yo u may have a faulty RF receiver on your HDTV. press menu and select scan channels automatically....make sure tv is set to cable not air

Turn the power off to the receiver and let it run its course. It should download a new program guide at this time. Another thing is to make sure you are on ALL SUB on the guide as opposed to a favorite self created guide.Thanks for using Fix Ya.

Hi, it sounds like your saying that punching in 08, 09 etc. works but channel up button won`t switch from 08 to 09 correct??? If so you need to go into your tv`s menu and "autoprogram" your channels into memory, video-tek

Try unplugging the TV for a few minutes and then doing an auto channel search through the menu button. That has solved my problem, at least for the time being.
