Question about Computers & Internet

Printer: HP psc2350, MY53JF2298KJ. After fitting a fresh colour cartridge I received a message that the alignment had failed. I refitted the cartridge twice and eventually received alignment OK but the alignment sheet showed only black, blue and yellow, with no red. I have tried printing a photo but there is no red printing, only blue and yellow. Advice please.

I could not access the document you mention through Google. Can you please give me a straightforward answer in clear English, as at age 85 I am not too computer literate.

The replacement cartridge was obtained from a reputable retailer, in sealed HP packaging. What more can I do?

After trying your solutions without result I took your final advice and fitted another fresh cartridge, which solved the problem. Is it possible to know if a new cartridge will be OK? Thanks for your advice which was finally successful.

    Dear gabelan,
Please accept my regards , It will be my honour to serve you ,my Services . Please read these instructions carefully:

    Problem
You printed a diagnostic page and found colors that are very different from the colors on the cartridge label, or entirely missing colors.

Step 1: Run the clean print cartridges utility

    1. Press the Setup button.

    2. Use the arrow keys to select Tools and then press the OK button.

    3. Select Clean Print Cartridge and then press OK . The device prints a test page.

    4. Examine the test page. If the print quality of the page is good, stop here. If the
print quality is bad, go on to the next step for further cleaning.

    5. Open the Printer Toolbox . There are two ways to do this:

    * Open HP Director , select the Settings menu, then the Print Settings submenu,
and finally the Printer Toolbox .

    * If the HP Director method does not work, open Printers and Faxes in the
Windows Control Panel , then right-click your printer icon and choose Properties
. Click on Printing Preferences . Click the Services tab, then the Service This
    Device icon.

    6. The Printer Toolbox opens. On the Device Services tab, click Clean the Print
Cartridges , then follow the on-screen instructions. Up to three levels of cleaning
are available. Discard or recycle the page that prints.

Step 2: Replace the problem cartridge
If a cartridge replacement was not tried previously to solve this problem, replace the problem cartridge now.

    Cause and prevention
Color mix is usually caused by a material touching the nozzles. Ink can wick along the material and travel from nozzle to nozzle. When different colors of ink mix in this way, the result is muddy, inaccurate colors.
Missing colors occur when the cartridge nozzles dry out, or when a color is exhausted because of specific printing demands.

    * Do not remove the protective tape from a new print cartridge until just before you
install it. Once you remove the tape, do not reapply it.

    * After you have removed the protective tape, do not allow anything to touch the
    nozzles.

    * Print at least once a month to keep the print cartridges in good working order.

    * Always turn the printer off by pressing the button on the printer control panel, rather than by unplugging the printer. Turning the printer off properly allows it to protect the cartridges.

    * If you are removing a cartridge from the printer temporarily (for instance, removing
the black cartridge in order to install the photo cartridge), put it in a cartridge
    protector.

    * If you do not have a cartridge protector and need to remove a cartridge
temporarily, put it in an airtight plastic tub. Make sure nothing touches the
nozzles. Do not use a plastic bag. If you intend to store print cartridges in a tub
for a long period of time, place color cartridges with the nozzles down, and black
    cartridges with the nozzles up.

    Regards

Try opening the printer properties and cleaning the print heads (should probably be done each time a cartridge is changed), it uses some ink up but should clean the build up from running the previous cartridge dry and hopefully solve your printing problem.

Good luck.

I have a fine line across some of my printing. I am using and hp psc 1205 all in one printer. What could be the problem and how can I solve it.

Usually a line across your printing indicates a bad inkjet head. Luckily on HP printers the printer head is built into the inkjet cartridge. Have you replaced the cartridge? Does it do this on any color or a particular color?

My advise is to replace the cartridges and perform an alignment. If that doesnt fix it, it could be a bad board.

Eratic printing of colour pages

probably needs an alignment test as well as a colour check.

Failing that try using a new ink cartridge.

Hope this helps

Can't print in colour

Hi Paddy,
It sounds like the color ink cartridge is clogged. You can try taking the color cartridge out, and take a paper towel and some windex with amonia. Spray the paper towel with the windex and then take the color cartridge, and wipe the bottom of the ink cartridge. After wiping the bottom of the cartridge, try pressing on the bottom of the cartridge (Print head) with the paper towel...You should start seeing some ink soaking into the paper towel. If you do not see any ink on the paper towel, then try wiping it again with the windex/paper towel. If after a couple tries, you can not get the ink to flow from the print head, then I would suggest getting a new cartridge.
The HP ink cartridges can get a bit tricky and the print heads will clog when the printer is left sitting for a long period of time.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.
If you have any other questions, feel free to post them.
IF I have helped answer your question, please remember to leave a feedback and or rating for my suggestion.

My colour cartrige code 348 will not fit into my photosmart 2575 printer the package says suitable for this machine

I would look at the cartridges and see if they look similar and if they don't try another one. Or go to local place like staples and see if they could help you. Do you have a pix of the cartridge that you could send me?

Miss Hay, If you do not post the model no of the printer & Mfg it's almost impossible to find you a fix or post a reason. You can however go to the Mfg's web site your self, by using your model number & name of the printer you can find more options to repair your problem.
