If the pump is holding water at the pot the first thing to check is the pot lid "O" ring and the pot lid for cracks. Then you will need to check the suction line for leaks Without seeing your system this is about all I can help you with. Good luck.

Recently purchased a goulds pump mod #c48a93a06. Lost power for about hour. Electric returned but water never came back on. Should I have to prime the pump again on a new unit?

See if the motor is running. You should be able to hear it. If it is then you need to check the prime. If it is a prime issue then the motor runs the risk of never shutting off and could overheat.

Turn key, listen to the whine of the fuel pump priming, start bike. If you don't get the sound of the pump priming either it's not getting power or it's dead, I don't think it has a inertia safety switch.
OR
the crank sensor is the only sensor that, if faulty, will not allow a bike to run. However, even with a bad CS the bike should still 'prime' when you turn ignition on and switch to the run position.
( if it doesn't, I'd look for power to the pump)

When you say no fuel, are you indication the fuel pump has no fuel from the vehicle? if so the pickup tube in the tank should be looked at. If you have fuel at the pump inlet, and the pump makes a load clatter whilst priming check by installing a cheap clear gas fuel filter between the pump out and the carb, run the gen to see if the carb is been starved of fuel, if so replace the fuel pump. Anothe rpoint make sure it is an OEM pump as they are low pressure and an automotive fuel pump is too much pressure and can lock the carb and cause dangerous leaks

When I turn on my STA-RITE 1.5 HP pump, it makes a humming sound.

A humming noise is fairly normal if the pump is running and pumping correctly. I am guessing this is not the case. Usually it is just a stuck impeller that is the culprit. Power down the unit and open the pump housing to access the impeller. Then gently turn the impeller feeling for resistance (some resistance is normal from the magnets of the motor). If everything seems ok close and secure the pump housing. Try powering the unit on and see if it starts up correctly. If it is still having issues manually prime the pump. If the pump runs correctly for a few minutes after manually priming but slows or stops you have a leaky seal or fitting to find. Finding the seal is not hard but will take a little time and patience. With your garden hose, very carefully run water over each joint and fitting with the pump running. It will take a minute or so of water running over a leaky seal for the pump to prime so take your time. Make sure not to get water on the motor as it can deliver a very nasty shock and destroy the motor. If none of this gets you up and running the cause may be the motor is bad and needs replacing.

I have 1 and 1/2 horsepower sprinkler pump that wont prime. As soon as the end piece fills, it will empty if I open the end to the sprinkler.

I don't know what is your system set up. However, the system set up should be the following;
1. Your 1-1/2HP sprinkler pump must be installed at
a fix location nearest the water source. (Complete
with power and plumbing lines.)
2. At the end of the suction line is a vertical check
valve with strainer.
3. The suction pipeline must be connected to the
suction port of the pump.
4. At the discharge port, a flow control valve tee must
be installed. The flow control valve tee top is
covered with a plug, which serves as the priming
port when opened.
5. After the flow control valve, connect a short nipple
so that you can put a gate valve to stop the water
flow or allow the water to flow. You may connect
a pressure tank at this point or you may connect
the pressure hose going to the sprinkler.
6. To prime the pump, open the plug at the flow
control top. Fill it full with water, replace the
priming port plug.
7. Turn the flow control valve to full closed position.
8. From full close position, switch the power on.
9. The pump now run on and off due the pressure
switch setting. Slowly open the flow control valve
such that the water pressure remains steady.
10. Take note of the pressure.
11. Shut the power off, and connect the sprinkler
pump hose.
12. Put the power back on, and allow the pump to
run with the sprinkler.

Under this set up, you can run the sprinklers when your pump is running. Hope this will solve problem.

How do i prime an onga pump from repressuring to primiing

Open the priming port at the discharge pipe. Close the discharge valve and fill the priming port with water until it is full. Power up and switch on the pump. While running, slowly open the discharge valve until the water
pressure gage at the pump is 20 psi. That will be the running pressure of the pump, and the maximum opening of the discharge valve.

I have a Guundfos CHIE 4 circulation pump that is constantly running. I closed the valve on the pressure side but is still runs. On a previous post I was told it "may have lost its prime". The pump is...

You have a defective pressure switch. But replacing the switch. Do the following; Open the pressure switch cover, and find the two adjusting nuts. One is for the cut-off pressure (40psi) and the other is for the cut-in pressure (20 psi). Adjust the the nut with a longer stem counter clockwise (loose) with the pump running. Take care not to touch the power line attach
to it. Continue the adjustment until the pump stops,
at 40 psi. Then, observe - Pump must stop once the
pressure is attained. Then, open the valve until it
start (20psi).. Then you can adjust the other nut to
cut in at 20 psi.
To prime the pump; open and fill the priming port full
with water.and replace the priming port plug. Set
the water flow control valve at full close position.
Switch the power on to run the pump and slowly
open the control valve to appropriate setting such
that the pump doesn't lost the suction. Send your e-
mail for further comment. God bless u
