Question about Xerox WorkCentre 4150 All-In-One Laser Printer

SMART KIT DRUM CARTRIDGE

New 4150 just installed yesterday.
reads smart kit drum cartridge not installed correctly.
Pulled it out reinstalled, nothing.......

    i have the same problem in many machines and i think the problem now in the firmware because if you replaced the drum with a nother one. it will be work.

    almost i'm try your response but another machines shows same problem. it only works for new chip after 20 copies same problem...

Call 1-800-821-2797. Thats a machine software issue..
Here is the note on it.

Problem:
The DRUM and TONER cartridges are not installed correctly. Web page indicates replace %0 empty cartridges. The Machine doesn't copy. Cause:
Firmware and work-process problem. . Solution: SMART KIT DRUM CARTRIDGE - thumbsup.gif Fixed! thumbsdn.gif Did not fix. Don t worry about cartridges. They are safe. Upgrade firmware. The message goes away and machine copies

How do I change the toner cartridge on a 4150 workcentre. Where is it?


Open the front access cover and find the toner cartridge unit on the left, next to the drum. Unlatch it and slide out the toner.

I have a Xerox 4150 printer, I install a new cartridge and get a message,"The toner cartridge is not for this machice, install the correct cartridge", I also want to add that want I took out the toner...


There are a couple of different cartridges for those machines. One is a "sold" the other "metered" if the cartridge part number is different it will give you that message.
Also remove the cartridge and shine a falshlight into the machine . Look all the way to the back and locate the springs, they make contact with the cartridge. Try gently stretching them to see if they area making good contact.

09-300 Time to reorder the Smart Kit Drum Cartridge. Labels are dropping a line off, could this be related?


yup it is...you can reset the drum by pressing machine status button button then supplies and click on smart kit drum and choose reset

i'm going to try to explain this in english even tought is not my native language, i had the same problem with my xerox 4150, when i bought a new cartridge it worked perfectly but at some point it stoped working, and it says in the screen something like "remove toner cartridge and reinstall", the problem was that the chip (is like a sticker under the toner) was in bad position from factory, a men who worked in xerox told me that there was a lot of toner cartridge that came with this problem, and this chip is ultrasonic or something like that because it never make contact with the printer circuit, so the fact is that you only have to remove and re-paste the chip in the correct position, but you have to do it several times until it works, that's how i repaired it...

Toner installation error


take it out and try again, there are often adhesive tabs protecting certain areas of cartridges, that need to be removed, and that are not obvious

New cartiage/not reconized


It says there is no cartridge, or does it say that the cartridge is empty?

First, you must realize there are two cartridges. A drum and a toner. If you bought a new toner, pulled out the drum and put the new toner in, you have pulled a DOH! You can't just put the toner in. You have to take your old drum cartridge, remove the toner portion and install the new toner into your old drum and then install the entire assembly back into the machine. I hope you didn't throw your drum out thinking it was all one cartridge (I've seen it happen). This is where reading the owner's manual helps.

If not, then one of the contacts must have been damaged. Remove the cartridge and look inside the machine. See if you can find any of the metal contacts on the side of the inner chamber that is bent or damaged and try to bend it back.

Check the drum and make sure none of the contacts are damaged.

If the unit is still saying Toner Empty, try this. On the left side of the toner there will be a while lever in a semi-circular notch.

Unplug the unit, use a small screwdriver or a key to push that white lever back to the front of the notch. Put the drum and toner back into the machine and plug the power back in.
