According to Crutchfield.com, you have 6 3/4" speakers in the front and rear doors, 4"x10" in the rear pillars. The 6 3/4" locations should be able to fit 6 1/2" and 5 1/4" speakers using adapters. I would imagine the same could be said for using 6"x9" speakers in the 4"x10" pillar locations.

To edit my comment, normally you can put smaller speakers in larger locations using adapters. In the case of your 4"x10" locations, you will probably not be able to install 6"x9" speakers, as the 6" height would be too tall. Sorry!

Actually, i have a 1999 chevy suburban and you have 6 1/2" in the front doors, 5 1/4" in the 2nd row doors and 4"x10" in the rear pillars, so you shouldnt need any adaptors. i am assuming you bought the suburban stock and not a special edition or anything.

How do i test speaker to see if its blown

Look at the fabric or mylar material behing the protective grill on the front side. If bad you will see cracks or it will be expanded in size and look deformed. If normal, use an ohm meter to test across the wire terminals. You should have 4-8 ohms. If you have very high ohmage or no circuit at all, it is bad. Thanks

Passenger side rear door 1999 GMC Suburban wire colors are red and brown, which is Positive?

check your rear lights, which ever goes to the earth, I/e the metal casing then that is the neg, and that will tell you if the red or brown is positive! to connnect your speakers. It's an easy process of elimination.
