The dome lights don't come on when doors are opened. The door switches seem to work o.k.and the lights can be turned on manually, so I assume the dash toggle switch is bad. I checked fuses and they seem to be O.K. How difficult to replace switch? Does the dash have to be removed to get at? Any other suggestions to try?

First thing make sure the main switch is in the middle (door) position. and yes, if the switch has an open circuit in the middle position it would cause this concern. The entry lighting system is controlled by a control unit (MICU) which is integrated into the under-dash fuse box. When you turn the main switch on or on individually at each light it electrically bypass the control unit and goes straight to ground. If the lights work manually than you know the fuse is good. For some reason the control unit may not be turning the lights on, due to a possible bad input to the control unit or a bad control unit itself. Check those door switches for open circuits and see if the lights come on if you open another door. If they do, the problem is the drivers door switch and this is the most common failure I've seen, but this effects drivers door only. Its unlikely that all the door switches went out at once. The center dash panel is held in by clips so you'll have to pry the panel out. take care not to scratch the panel. wrap a pocket screw driver with electrical tape or get a plastic trim tool. -hope this helps

Testimonial: "I've pretty much determined that the dash switch is bad. Thanks for the tip on removing the switch and not destroying the dash in the process."

2007 Hyundai Tucson dome lights do not come on when either drivers side & passenger door are open... The lights work when I push the interior dome light buttons, just not when I open doors.

If the dome lights on your 2007 Hyundai Tucson do not come on when the driver's side or passenger doors are open, but they do work when you press the interior dome light buttons, there are a few things you can check to try to determine the cause of the issue:
  1. Check the door switches: Make sure that the door switches, which are located on the inside of the doors, are working properly. If the switch is not working, it will not send a signal to the dome light to turn on when the door is opened.
  2. Check the wiring: Check the wiring that connects the door switches to the dome light. Make sure that the wiring is not damaged or corroded, and that all connections are tight.
  3. Check the dome light fuse: Check the fuse for the dome light in the vehicle's fuse box. If the fuse is blown, replace it with a new one of the same amperage.
  4. Check the BCM(Body Control Module): The Body Control Module controls the door switches and the dome light. Make sure that the BCM is not malfunctioning.
  5. Check the Sunroof switch: Make sure that the sunroof switch is not malfunctioning, sometimes that switch is used to turn on the dome light, if the switch is not working the dome light will not turn on.
It's important to have a professional technician to diagnose the issue and confirm what the problem is before trying to fix it. If you're not comfortable with troubleshooting the issue yourself, it's best to contact Hyundai dealership or a mechanic for further assistance.

2008 kia rio dome light doesnt work when door is open but works manually

You didn't mention if one door or all doors.
If only one door then most likely that door switch.
if none of the doors will make it come on, the see if you have a dome light control as my Kia can be set for all from switch near mirror.
Not thinking a fuse since it will turn on manually.

Dome lights won't work on my 2005 Chevy equinox

The courtesy lamp supply voltage circuit of the body control module (BCM) supplies battery positive voltage to the dome lamp, the liftgate lamps, and the map lamps. When any door is opened, the door jamb switch contacts close providing a door open input to the BCM. The BCM then provides a ground to the interior lamps with the switch in the AUTO position. The interior lamps receive a ground at G401 with the switch in the ON position.
The following lamps may be manually turned ON by placing the interior lamp switch in the ON position, or by opening a door while the switch is in the AUTO position.

The dome lamp

?€¢
The liftgate lamps

?€¢
Courtesy/map lights

You can't turn them on manually ?
This could be a BCM problem , this best left to a ASE certified repair shop or the dealer .

Hi there I have an 04 Honda Accord 2.2i ctdi sport and I was installing projector lights into the door courtesy lights now the courtesy lights on the drivers side aren't working.

Could be a bad light switch in the driver's door. You can check and see if you have power on the driver's door with a tester before you purchase a new switch.

Dome lights won't turn off

Been having a problem with the dome lights on a 99 chevy blazer. Still can't figure out what the problem is. There is a dome light overide button located under the dimmer wheel. When I push the overide button in the dome light goes off, but when I open any of the doors the dome light will not come on. When the overide button is out the dome light stays on all the time and will not turn off even though every door is closed. I checked all the pushbuttons and everything tests good. Has anyone had this problem and know how to fix it?
