Installing web cam in linux laptop

You need to install the WEBcam driver from the installation CD that was supplied or download the WEBcam driver from the WEBcam manufacturer's WEB site.
If the WEBcam is built-in on your laptop then you can install the WEBcam driver from the installation CD or download the WEBcam driver from the laptop manufacturer's WEB site.

Please Re-install the correct web cam driver and restart the laptop and start webcam again.

1st You download Webcam Driver.
My web cam wc1200red is for windows
After this install the Webcam driver in the system.
Installation of Webcam Driver
Go to the control panel
Click on the System Icon
Click on the Hardware Tab
Click on the Device Manager s
Select the Unknown Device or printer device where yellow Question Marks sign on it.
Right click on it and uninstall it.
After this go to the top of the device manager and click on scan for hardware changes.
Driver installation Wizard start.
Brows Your Driver from the Hard Disk and click on next.
Driver will be install.

Get the installation CD that comes with the webcam that is only thing that will solve the problem

Did you have software installed to use the WebCam? You need software to run the WebCam. Install the web cam software in your laptop. Look in your program folder to locate webcam software. Then you access the web cam through this software. you also use this web cam in chatting.

hey hi ...i have Acer aspire one model no. ZG5 showing problem in its web cam.. couple of days before it was working perfectly alright.. then unfortunately i deleted my audio driver some how and after that i put the CD n recovered my system since this system recovery my web cam is not working.. i have linux fedora installed in my laptop..[by the way i m new user of linux so dont know its features and options rightly] its messenger is not showing me my web cam option on a chat window.. please help me.. it seems to me that there is some driver missing or may be web cam is disable.. but m fail to find the problem... kindly help me..

You put the cd in cd-rom and start instalation.follow the instruction.it will be installed

Most 701 models came with a web cam built in.
You can install an external one easily.. just plug it in to the usb port.

Previous poster is wrong... why would you need a Cd drive ?
You could either download the drivers from the webcam maker's website, or simply copy the file from the CD to a SD card with another computer. If you have a home network setup, you could simply copy the files via network file sharing.

If you have the linux version of the EeePC 701, then make sure you buy a compatible webcam that has drivers in linux.
