The easiest way is to do what I did for FREE, FAST AND EASY. First unplug and remove the battery. Second remove the, hard drive, memory and the internal battery. Third step with all items removed and the laptop unplugged hold the power button down for about 10 seconds and release. (Your machine is now free of any internal memory). Now go relax for at least 15 minutes and forget about it. Now put it all back together.Almost there, take a deep breath and power that bad boy on HOLDING THE FN KEY DOWN UNTIL THE IBM SCREEN APPEARS .... NOW PRESS THE F1 KEY AND WAIT......the key is gone and all you have to do is set your time and date go to security and disable the passwords and follow the on screen instructions. Now wasn't that easy?

You must be referring to the bios password or maybe the power on password. You can try taking out the yellow coin cmos battery located under the cover for the modem/wireless card/ bluetooth card bay. Unplug the wire and leave out for 24 hours or longer and this might do the trick. Make sure you unplug the computer and take any batteries out of the machine beforehand. If this does not work then you can always get a company to unlock it for you for a fee. Check ebay and you will see auctions based on the model of notebook you own. In your case click here http://cgi.ebay.com/IBM-LENOVO-Thinkpad-BIOS-Password-A30-A31-T30-T42p-T61p_W0QQitemZ400107955932QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5d284ae6dc
Good Luck!

Some of the older thinkpad had a program you from the OS or a boot floppy to had to run to get change the bios settings. But the BIOS key on most is F1. So if you press that key as soon as you turn the machine on and anything appears on the screen, and once you've provided the password you can then change the password to blank within the bios.
If you don't know the password at all, there may still be a way to reset it, but it may require a call to IBM/Lenov, or some other tedious process.
Click start run type cmd press Enter
black screen should open DOS mode
this will vary depending on your operating system
type in net user username
For eg. If you want to change administrator password , type net user Administrator
it will prompt you to enter the new password
enter the new password and the password is changed
hope this helps
