DVD and CD RW Driver are not working

I added 2 x 128 mb memory card to my dell 8250 (bought at Nov 2002 with 2x256 mb card) and several days late, found i lost both DVD and CD RW Drivers.
i could open both DVD and CD RW tray by pressing the button there (i.e. it has power), but there's no sign of these drivers (not at my computer, device manager/hardward...), just couldn't find any sigh/icon of DVD and CD RW from my desktop. i deleted the regiester key, but it didn't solve the problem.

Hope you could help me, many thanks!

You might have knocked the cable our when installing the extra ram.

Take the cover off avail and find the cable that connects the motherboard to the first drive then then the second.

Push it in firmly at all 3 connections

If this doens't work try removing the ram and rebooting - see if your drives come back

Reboot and press the button to go into BIOS

Your CD Drives will be picked up by your bios check. If they aren't then they are not connected properly. If they are we know is a problem with drivers.

Hello i got integreted network card on me dell dimension 8250 i was trying to get drivers from dell site but me pc still doeasnt see me network card please help me as quick its possible

On a computer that DOES have Internet access,
access the manufacturer's web-site: http://support.dell.com
and select "Dimension" and "8250".
Select the device-driver for the NIC.
Download it.
Copy the download to a CD-recordable disk, or to a USB memory-stick.
Move the copy of the file to your Dell.
Run the software to install the device-driver for the NIC.

I have acer aspire 4520.I have upgraded to windows xp sp2. The empowering technology does not work.It says " the specified file is not found".I cannot find the empowering technology software...

Acer Aspire 4520 Notebook Technical Specifications:

Operating System Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium Processor AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-57 (512KB L2 cache, 1.9GHz) Chipset NVIDIA nForce 610M Memory 1GB (1GB installed in one of two memory slots) DDR2 667 SDRAM User upgradeable up to 4GB (one 2GB memory card in each slot)* subject to availability of 2GB cards
*If upgrading after initial purchase, one or more of the memory cards provided with the system may have to be replaced with optional larger memory cards in order to achieve the maximum capacity.
Storage 120GB* hard disk drive Integrated variable-speed Super-Multi drive (DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RAM):
-Read - 24X CD-ROM, 24X CD-R, 24X CD-RW, 8X DVD-ROM, 8X DVD-R, 8X DVD+R, 6X DVD-ROM DL (double-layer), 6X DVD-R DL (double-layer), 6X DVD+R DL (double-layer), 6X DVD-RW, 6X DVD+RW, 5X DVD-RAM
-Write - 24X CD-R, 10X CD-RW, 8X DVD-R, 8X DVD+R, 4X DVD-R DL (double-layer), 4X DVD+R DL (double-layer), 6X DVD-RW, 8X DVD+RW, 5X DVD-RAM
5-in-1 card reader for optional MultiMediaCard™, Secure Digital card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO™ or xD-Picture Card™

Surely to load XP is a DownGrade. As this notebook is dual core, I would run Vista 64 or better still Windows 7 64.
If you wish to persist with an old system, you require SP3 for XP.That may be available from a software store but is no longer supported by Windows.
Try http://www.notebook-driver.com/laptops-information/acer-aspire-4520-notebook-technical-specifications/ for drivers that you will require to have support from Acer.

Hope that clarifies your situation.
