I am trying to play a blu-ray dvd on my laptop and output (through hdmi) to the tv. I can get the tv to show computer screen but as soon as I press play on the dvd (in arcade delux) the screen goes purple and nothing happens.... the dvd is still playing on the laptop screen but not on the tv... is there something I need to do?

If you can't get a menu picture from blu ray, check output jacks going from player to tv. if you a picture from blu ray menu, then you may need to clean the lazer eye in blu ray player.
Usually with the TV on and DVD off just turning on the DVD will select the HDMI output.......if that does not work then on the remote select AV and keep pressing for the HDMI output!
The video for blu ray disks come out of the HDMI port and that has to be connected to the TV for video. If it is connected, make sure the TV is switched to the correct HDMI port on the TV (assuming you have a flat screen HDTV).
The specifications of this laptop states that it has a Dual layer DVD R/W drive. This drive can only play DVDs and CDs but not BluRay discs and it can burn single and dual layer DVDs and CDs.
i had the same problem, you need to right click on the desktop when the hdmi lead is plugged in, go to personalize, tasks, option to connect to a projector or other external display, and connect external display only. the blu ray cant play on 2 screens at the same time. my only other problem is that on some blu ray discs, i get as far as the title screen and then cant press play in any way, can anyone help???
Try scrolling thru the TV's video inputs. When you get the right one, the circuit will automatically recognize it and play provided it's connected properly
