Question about Amcor PLM-14000E Portable Air Conditioner

2 Answers

Unit Cools for two minutes and takes a three minute break.

I just purchased an Amcor PLM 1400E and it isn't working correctly. I have the A/C set at 64 degrees and the fan on turbo but the compressor will only run for two minute producing cold air. After this two minute period the compressor will shut off for three minutes and then the process repeats its self even with diffrent fan speeds or temprature settings. My over all room temprature is not droping even after hours of use. Unit is getting proper power, ventalation, it is level, room is air tight, room has only 2 occupants, room is only 250 square feet, and unit has free space for inlets and utlets. Any idea what the problem could be?

I am having the same issue, the exhaust fan that blows the hot air out of the home is most likely not working. I am having a hard time finding a replacement fan motor

There is a safety shutting down the compressor. Either the thermal overload is cutting it off because its getting too hot for some reason. Dirty coil, filter or fan speed, though you said the fan is running so that's out. Does the compressor feel really hot when its cycling on and off? If its not, its possible the thermal disc is bad, but unlikely. The other safety is low pressure (freon) You kind of need a set of A/C gauges to test this accurately. Hope this helps. These safeties are there to prevent the compressor from burning out, when something small is the problem, as its the most expensive part. You sound like have covered all the bases, so check the coils and filter, if there still is a problem, then you need to call a service tech. for warranty.

i believe the safety that were put in are faulty, they are casuing the compressor to shut down even when it shouldn't as mine does the same thing brand nw out of the box and only running for 10 minutes. This is something that should of been recalled but they closed the doors instead and took off with our money. hard to find someone to fix it as well

I have an AMCOR ALTL1200E, fan works, cold air comes out when the compressor turns on BUT after 5 minutes compresor turns OFF, then after 5 minutes again it turns on, what is wrong, thanks

Sounds like the unit is cycling off on a high head pressure (condenser coil too hot). When the condenser cools, the automatic switch resets. The unit cuts off again when the condenser heats up again. Clean the condenser coil, and clear out any debris (bird's nest, lint etc.)

Amcor 10,000BTU set at 64 degrees - - temperature of air coming out of unit is 72 degrees. In one and half hour set at 64 degrees the room temp only went from 90 degrees to 84 degrees. Recommendations?...

I am not sure, i have a similiar unit that is brand new, seems like a faulty mechanism from the maker, it starts cold for about 2-3 minutes and then shuts down condenser and blows hot air repeating this cycle. I don't believe it ias a recharge, just a faulty machine

Have you tried pushing the reset button on the power plug? If the unit overheats the reset button will click on and the a/c will turn off. In order to turn it back on you will have to push the reset button.
