Re: Error Code 5010

My Canon all in one Printer MP460 (2 months old) is stating error code 5010 - any advice would be most appreciated. The problem occurred when I replaced the ink cartridges. I have tried re installing the printer and unplugging it from the PC etc., - to no avail - still error code 5010.

Many thanks

Suzie

We have a brand new Navien 180A, installed by a licensed plumber. It's been converted to propane. The output water temperature fluctuates by as much as 15 degrees. We also get occasional E3 errors and have to restart the system. And now we've gotten a E515 error, and I really don't think there is a problem with the ground. Navien tech help has been nearly useless. My suspicion is that there is a problem with the PC board. Any help would be appreciated. At this point the unit is a 2.5 thousand dollar piece of junk (including installation costs)Thanks in advance.

It can have alot to do with some obstruction in the print path, the gears, or ink on the clear plastic encoder strip. You're on the right track - I found the the purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) was not lubricated well enough from factory. If you lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps) the mechanism can now slide more freely, and the unit can park the head properly without giving you the dreaded head homing error 5100 (or E-2-2 on the LCD display) Keep in mind that this repair will probably require you to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism. There are two screws behind the printer, and two in front for each corrosponding side panel (the front screws are behind the grey front panel of the printer - open the top cover to see the clips which hold the front cover on) Hope this helps some of you out.

Error code 5010

Canon only lists three 4-digit error codes for the MP500: 1700, 1851, and 1856. After much research and finding many other MP500 owners getting this same strange code, I have come to conclude that it's the code of DEATH. Sometimes you may get strange codes if using compatible ink cartridges. Unless you can get the printer to reset and clear, the only other thing to try is to go back to the Canon driver download page and reload the correct driver: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=334&modelid=11995

Canon pixma mx700 error code 5010

5010 is a scanner error from the scanner on top. Canon has no parts for these and you can only replace the entire top of your machine. If you can get it apart, you might clean and lube, but it's not made to be opened.

5010 is a scanner error, either worn out scan lamp or sensors. Canon only replaces the entire scan assembly, if you like I can get part number and price.

Canon mp-830 error code 5010

That code is a scanner error. The scanner unit can not detect the home position or the scanner unit warming up is not done properly at power on. Most of the time the Scanner unit needs to be replaced.

Error code 5010

There's no specific info on a 5010 error even on Canon website, but ANY error in between 5000-9999 needs Canon's attention, so if it's under warranty, get a replacement.
