Dear suresh

if you talk about password to entering user xp, you can try to token ctrl, alt + del

and change user name with administrator
and left it with blank password
you can acces it after that you can remove the recent user password

It sounds as if this is a BIOS password request.

Has anyone been changing setting in the BIOS recently?

Occasionally, static or electrical interference can cause a BIOS password to reset to it's default.

Bypassing the BIOS password is not easy, but is possible. First of all, I would suggest you try some of the common manufacturers default passowrda. You can find lists here and here.

Failing that, there are software programs available to recover/reset lost BIOS password or you can manually reset the BIOS. Details of how you do this are here and here.

If you are not 100% sure what you are doing, I would not advise you to reset your BIOS. There are setting in here that you will need to set in order for your computer to work properly. Wrong values could prevent it from working at all, or could even cause permanent damage.

Google for 'reset bios password' - You'll find lots more information...

Hope this helps,

Matt

Hi my inspiron 1545 boots up and aks for a password. It will not let me go into f12 or f2 settings. when I type in anything at the requesting password screen I do not see anything being typed and then

you need to remove the cover of the laptop locate the password jumper.(near the hard drive, clearly labelled.) take what looks like a little cap off. push the power on button for three seconds. replace cap close laptop, replace cover, and your password will be reset. leave it blank, do not do this with laptop a/c power cord plug into wall socket.

HP zv5000 request Power on Password

It seems that a bios password keeps you locked out. Try entering the bios (del or F2 during the boot) and get back to defaults or reset the password.

Hi I just got a used Thinkpad T60, and is requesting a password. Can you tell me how to change that

Try booting up in Safe Mode. Log in as administrator (try 'password' as the password), then open control panel (start>settings>control panel). Open the User Management tool, select the user that you want change and click change password. If you want to create a new user you can do that here to. Be sure to make the new user an Admin.
