Im trying to set this up as an access point. but it will not fine a ip from the router

Most router wont act as a DHCP client (Get an IP address) on their own.

You need to go into the Belkin setup and set it to an IP address in the range of your other router.

For example:
If your PC is getting (connected to the same network) an IP address of 192.168.0.3 IP and a Default Gateway address of 192.168.0.1 you can set the Belkin with any adderss between 192.168.0.10 & 192.168.0.254. Changing the last octet (set of numbers after the 3rd period) to the desired address.

I have a embarq 660 series router and using a compaq presario computer. I have already installed the belkin surf/share wireless USB adapter to this laptop. When I go to Internet explorer it says offline.

your problem is a IP address conflict

Embarq and Belkin have the same IP address 192.168.2.1

change the IP address in to your Router.

To restore the router to factory default settings, please do the following:
1. Unplug the router's power supply
2. Press and hold the reset button on the bottom of the router
3. Keep the reset button depressed and, at the same time, plug the power supply back in
4. Keep the reset button depressed for another 10 seconds
5. Release the reset button

Belkin wireless G router incompatible with netgear modem

connect your computer to netgear modem alone and check for the ip address in the computer
(make sure that you have selected "assign ip automatically" in computer)...
to open command prompt type "cmd" and hit enter in run box...
then you can check ip address by typing "ipconfig" in command prompt...
make a note of IP adress or ipV4 address found under the heading "ethernet adapter local area connection"
it might be 192.168.X.X
now connect only the belkinrouter and check for the ip address using the same steps above...
it might be 192.168.2.X
make a note of that...
now compare both the ip addresses if they both have the same value in first three places...that is
192.168.2.... or something like 192.168.1.... or 192.168.0.... then you are facing with double NAT issue...
all that you need to do for that is to change the ip address of belkin router...
if it is 192.168.2.1 change into something like 192.168.15.1...the issue will get resolved....if not you can reset the belkin
router by pressing and holding the reset button for 30 seconds using a toothpick when the power is turned on...

Belkin F5D8236-4 Wireless Router will not connect to pannaway dsl modem with same settings as router I am replacing. Dynamic IP address setup. Modem light continously blinks orange. No internet light.

1) With direct connect with modem, check the IP address and default gateway.
(I came across such a modem, it gave default gateway as 192.168.1.254)
I also had the doubt of configuring as a dynamic connection
But it won't work!
Contact your ISP to completely bridge the modem and configure the dsl modem as PPPoE connection with correct username and password.
Finally connect the modem to router and do a complete network power cycle, i.e.: Unplug power from router 1st, then power from modem, unplug the telephone line and now do the exact reverse process... Plug back the tel. cable, then power to modem... now WAIT for lights on modem to come back, then plug in the power to router. This will surely work.

Belkin Wireless N router/Embarq 660 modem/No internet

Make sure your physical connection is correct. From the modem, the ethernet cable should plugged in to the Internet/WAN port of the router. And your computer to port 1. Access the setup page of the router again and Enable the MAC Address Clone setting. Clone the MAC Address of your PC there then power cycle the router and modem. You should be all set.

Surfboard Cablemodem not communicating with Belkin Wireless Routr

If the modem is actually passing out DHCP, then you have to connect the modem to the router 4 port lan side and not the wan port. Give the router a static ip like 192.168.1.2 and you can talk to it and configure the wireless features.

Connection keeps intermittently dropping.

Connect with an ethernet cable and find out the IP Address,
subnet mask, gateway, and dns,
by double clicking on Local Area Connection, click support, click details.

Enter these values for the wireless area connection

To set the values do the following:-

start -- > control panel --> network connections
right click on wireless area connection select properties
click on TCP/IP and press properties
Set to use the following ip address
enter the values from wired connection

ignore any duplicate warning messages

Thiswill resolve the issue, I have used it many times.

Losing internet connection when I try to connect laptop to wireless router

Your cloning the mac address - thats the problem. It should use it's own mac address to connect to the modem. You need to power down the modem, then repower after a minute or so to let it connect to the new mac address. The problem you are seeing is due to network collisions betweenj the desktop and the router with the modem.

Problems setting up Belkin wireless G+ mimo modem router/usb network adapter

It sounds like the router address is wrong or you are not connected to the network.. Guessing you are using Windows XP or Vista. Go to the DOS prompt (http://www.computerhope.com/issues/chdos.htm) then type ipconfig. This will bring up details on your network (see example below).

IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.4
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1

You should see default gateway address which is the address of your router ie 192.168.2.1 in your example. If this is not shown you have not connected to your router properly. If it shows a different address use the address shown to try and access your router. HTH
