Try a disc cleaner.
If the cleaner does not help, you will have to contact Microsoft xbox support on the issue because it is having problems reading the xbox 360 discs. The drive may need to be replaced, a lot of people i know personally have had their xbox disc reader just die over time so it is a common issue.

First you need an internet connection, wireless or network cable.
For wireless:
You need the XBox 360 wireless adaptor.
Follow instructions to plug it in, then turn on console.
Go to the Dashboard.
Go to Console Settings.
Then Network Settings.
Then Search for a Network.
When you find your network, select it.
If you have a network code, such as WEP, enter it when prompted.
Now, whenever you turn on your XBox and have the wireless adaptor plugged in, it will automatically connect to your network.
For cable:
Plug in the cable to your console at the back.
Then follow above steps if it doesn't automatically connect you.
To play with mates, you need to purchase an XBox Live Gold Membership.
To do this, you must create an account after connecting to the internet.
To create an account:

Create Account
It will ask you to set up XBox Live and to pick a name.
Pick your name and connect it with a Windows Live account such as hotmail.
Follow steps to input information.
Payment can be automatic to a credit card number or, you can purchase XBox Live Membership Cards at most electronic stores, and input the codes.
You get one month free trial just for signing up.
Now to play:
Find out your friends' gamer tags or XBox Live name just as you made yours.
Push the XBox Guide button in the middle of your controller.
Select Friends.
At the top, add friends.
Input their gamer tag.
When they accept your invite/request, you can invite them to chats and games.
Pick your game, follow the instructions to play a multi-player game over XBox Live with your friends.

The problem is that the laser is either dying out, is dirty, or is not getting enough power.
so try to fix it using these steps...
- first open the 360 and pull out the dvd drive and open it up too.
- clean everything out good with compressed air, and q-tips dipped in alcohol.
- now you need to adjust the power going to the laser.Sometimes you may have to try multiple settings before getting it justright. Just keep adjusting the resistance lower and lower until itworks.
- if you tried multiple settings and still get the errors, then either get a replacement drive, or a new laser for it. Click Here for how to properly install the new laser.
- if you get a replacement drive, please not that there is a key in the pcb of the drive that must match the key from the motherboard, so you must either spoof firmware with the key, or swap out the old pcb board and put it in to the new drive.
