Question about Panasonic PT-47WX53 47" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Just bought a PANASONIC PT-47WX53G On ebay for what I thought was a steal. It was explained that somehow someone got into the service menu and messed something up with the convergence on the green gun. Apparently the picture at this point is unviewable. mentioned that a service tech looked at the set and said that it was probably a $10. part called the e-prom? first of all I need desperately to get this set working properly. the screen is completely distorted. Is that sounding like something more. Please help me with this. I printed out some other info on resetting the tv to factory defaults, and some iffy info on the convergence itself, I just kinda find it hard to believe that a tv can be so messed up just by pressing some buttons that obviously should not have. I'm new at this stuff on projection tv's but am pretty handy with alot of other stuff electronic. can anyone help, or am I seeing this for more than it is?

You can try restoring to factory defaults, and you can try the manual convergence option. If the manual convergence fails to reset (as in, the crosshairs physically will not move), then the convergence board is bad, and will need to be replaced or repaired (if you are a good circuit solderer).

PT-47WX53G. TV got moved. Unable to move blue

The convergence ICs have failed which is very common when the set has been moved as a wek IC wont allow the color to be moved. You can get the PT52WX53G convergence repair kit from www.tvrepairworld.com which is the correct one for your model. The kit contains the parts and the CD with repair instructions.

Panasonic PT-47WX53 does not turn on

Yes, I did try to use the power button on the TV itself. That did not work too. Yes, there is blinking red light too. I searched through several sights and found out that it is an issue with the IC 4511. I could not find a place to buy the chip.

By the way, our local TV dealer asked for $400 to fix this issue. I had already spent $400 on a different repair on this TV, 6 months ago.

Any suggestion/advice would be very helpful. Thank you again for your response.
