Your screen appears to be cracked. When this happens on occasion the glass shards will put pressure on the screen. Your phone reads that location as where your finger is. That will stop you from unlocking the screen. The obvious answer is to replace your screen. If you are on a budget and can't do that you may want to place it glass down on a table and gently tap the back. This may allow the glass shards to shift away from the spot recieving pressure. It isn't 100% solution but on occasion I have gotten it to work.
You just need to contact you are nearest lg service center there they will change you are display. Then wont have stock so you need to inform them early so that they will bring the display. Thanks for you are question.
Is the screen a LCD? These screens are difficult to read and only by changing the viewing angle makes it visible. If the screen has completely become black or all the numbers look like 8's? Since you've already replaced the batteries, eliminating all electrical malfunction my instinct is of the leakage of liquid in LCD screens( remember the old calculators, and how it responded if the screen was pressed hard). In that case the entire display screen will have to be changed. If it isn't cost-effective, I guess instead of attempting repair--------- get a new phone.........sodeep
I agree with the second option. A LCD Screen on Ebay is only about $20. And it is simple to replace yourself. Here are 2 links that would benefit you. The first is a repair guide for how to replace the screen. The second is a good link for where to buy Replacement LCD Screens.
I would say the LCD is dead. They seem prone to that because we have had to replace two handsets with exactly the same problem. The one lost the top row of the screen, the second is completely screendead. Though all is not lost. Any GAP compatible cordless handset will work with that base, so you can replace them and not have to buy an entire system :) Ebay is a good source for handsets only.
