Question about Mitsubishi WS-55315 55" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Cabinet removal I need to move my tv, but it won't turn the corner on my basement stairs. Is there a way to remove the cabinet base, or separate the tv into a couple smaller, more manageable parts?

Unfortunatly no there isnt. The tv bottom contains all the circuits, color guns, speakers. From where the bottom of the screen starts to the top is all part of the entire cabinet which is molded plastic. The top part contains a mirror and the screen you see as well as possibly a remote sensor. Short of sawing it in half and tossing it away you could take it apart but this would have to be done completely to gain you the most space and could be dangerous considering the high voltage transformer that the unit uses to power the color guns.

My big screen tv is about 3 inches to big to take down my stairs into my basement. Can it be dissasembled? Are there any sketches on how to dissasemble the speakers? Thanks Don

Yes but it would be easier to widen the stairs and just moving them can stop them from working so if you decide to take it apart just be careful, Manuals are available online but non are free

Can I remove the base to this TV to move it?

Yes the set can be disassembled and then reassembled. But you would need the service manual that will explain how to get the set apart into seperate pieces. Heres a link to where you can get the service manual for your model they send it by download link.

Need to know if TV can be separted into 2 pieces

Yes it can and does come apart in 2 fairly equal sized pieces. There are some screws on the sides when removed the top half with the mirror will lift off. It may require some extra force the first time it is done but comes apart with ease after that

you should be fine as long as you don't drop it of course. you and turn and twist it any which way but id say measure the height of the tv because at some point you will have the top and bottom of the tv touching 2 different walls if im not mistaken

Disassemble Rear Projection TV

well the short answer is : Check the sides of the set see if there is a crack in the middle where you could separate them
Long answer: i would not recommend it even if it does, the screens are sensitive and could get dust inside the screen.
Never taken one apart that far. i suspect most tech don't because of the problems aligning and dust ect.. trying to get it back together.

Relocating tv

Yes, this set does come apart for moving. Remove the lower screw from each side of the TV back. On both sides, pull off the two plastic caps and remove the two exposed screw. Lift the cabinet top straight up until the guide pins clear the holes in the bottom cabinet. Be careful and don't drop anything.

hi do this as last option! there is 30,000v inside the tv!! you can die before you even think about it the only way to do soo is unplug the T.V from the wall for a week at least (so the volt will dissolves) you can turn the tv on its side you will have a problem if it will get a slap or will fall in my opinion just take on its side....but its your decision JUST BE CAREFUL PLEASE!!! good luck
