Question about Speed Queen AWS52NW Top Load Washer
Wife said she smell something, took off the front and found a broken belt. Replaced belt from Auto zone, same size and shape. Befoe I closed the front I ran the machine in the spin cycle with no problem. Loaded clothes and washed, time for the drain/spin runs for 2-3 seconds and shuts off. auto reset and runs for the same time limit. Empty the clothes and still runs for the same time. Is the belt too tight? Pump gone? Motor shot? any help would be welcomed
Unknown model 7 cycle speed queen
It is important to replace it with a belt provided by Speed Queen as it requires a graphite imbedded belt which allows the electric motor pulley to "slip" when it starts to rotate the drum at the start of the spin cycle. As it reaches speed no or little slip occur. Motor vehicle belts do fit but will not "slip" causing the electric motor to over torque during the start up process resulting it to over heat followed by the associated shut down.
