When I hook this up to my new notebook which is Vista operating system in works then every so often it scans for sources. Only does it on this PC so i dont think it is the projector. Do you know of any issues they have had with VISTA? it will work but constantly checks for sources.

The USB connection only allows the projector's remote control to be used as a "mouse" to advance presentation slides on the PC and perform some other limited functions. The USB connection cannot be used to feed video or other signals to the projector. Refer to the operation manual here: HP mp3220 series User Manual
If the projector is not getting a source it might go on standby maybe check where you plug it in.
Projectors require quite a bit of power and should be on a single loop/outlet not hooked up to a powerbar with more things on it.
as far as I know there isn't any vista compatible software to download. try reinstalling the drivers or If you find out what software is needed you could emulate it but that can be trickey and eats up loads of ram as long as your new laptop isn't a dell you should be able to easely back-up your data, partition your hard drive and install xp on a partitio. If you have a hp depending on the model you could even switch between os without turning off the computer.
the lamp is ok
the lcd panels were fault
you need a new one
Have a nice day!
We supply original projector parts: lamp, bulb, Lcd panel, Lens, DMD chip, color wheel,
motherboard, powersupply ... with high quality and competitive price.
I had the same problem!
The problem is dust on the color wheel. At side of the color wheel is a wire connector attached wit one small screw, with a cottom tip clean the small lens and surface, that's all.
Put the connector and screw and it will OK!!
