Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W55 Digital Camera

1 Answer

My camera wont turn on and the batteries aren't the problem. The screen is not cracked. I think it might be the power button.

When i power on the screen stays blank, wont take pictures and other buttons wont responed

What makes you think, your camera is on? Could it be the battery is empty, and your camera is not working at all? did you try charging the battery in an external charger?
Did you check the contacts of the battery and in the camera?
Don't clean contacts with anything sharp. Just a dry cloth or cotton swabs will do.
What was the last time your camera worked correct?

I just got a brand new kodak easyshare 190 from a friend they say it works fine it has only been used to take not even 10 pictures i was shooting a video and then it just shut off. i changed the batteries...

Hmmmm....I think the camera was previously dropped - the symptom sounds familiar. It's shutting down because there's a crack on the board and it's not able to maintain constant power. When a camera is dropped, there will be more than one problem - you are noticing the first one. The camera may not be worth fixing.

Digital camera screen broken

A cracked screen will cost you, but maybe not as much as you think. Instead of replacing the whole , you can spend about $300 and replace the screen yourself. All you need is a small screwdriver.

1)Turn off the power to your screen and unplug all cables connected to it.
2)Remove the battery, if one is installed.
3)Locate the covered screws around the cracked screen. Remove the rubber/plastic covers, then unscrew the screws.
4)Gently remove the plastic frame around the cracked screen and set it aside.
5)Disconnect any power cords or cables going into the LCD screen.
6)Remove the cracked screen and slide the new screen into place. Replace any tape or plastic fasteners that hold it in place.
7)Reconnect all internal cords to the screen.
8)Screw in the frame and replace all the screw covers.
9)Reconnect the power supply and all external cables to the LCD screen and switch it on.

The camera wont turn on

hi...ensure that the camera is turned on. If applicable, ensure the lens cover has been removed before taking pictures. the LCD backlight is turned on by pressing the DISPLAY button several times until the screen appears. Depending on the camera model, the DISPLAY button may be labeled as DISP or with a display icon. This button could be a standalone button or it depends upon the camera model.....
If operating the camera with a battery, ensure the battery is fully charged.
Ensure the battery is inserted properly in the camera.
If operating the camera with the power adapter, ensure it is plugged into a working AC outlet.
Ensure no Audio/Video (A/V) cables are connected for viewing pictures on a TV; the LCD screen will not display when an A/V cable is connected.
Perform a reset procedure on the camera....

My Screen Wont come on (but the Camera Will)

There is a display button on most cameras that you can turn the LCD on and off to conserve battery. Some people like to use the viewfinder so this option is put into some cameras. If the display button is pressed before you turn it off it may save the "last known settings" so every time its turned on and off its still in that state. Look for a menu button or a display button see if you can get it to come back up. Some have a tv out, you could try and plug it into a tv to use as a monitor if it wont come back up. It could be cracked from an impact or the illumination light could be bad. Cracked LCDs are fairly common so thats possible.
