Question about Epson Stylus RX650 All-In-One Printer

1 Answer

Installation problems When I install (or try to install) the RX650 via USB my computer does not seem to recognize the printer as a printer--the message indicates that the item connected is unknown. The computer is an older model PC running Windows XP. I have been able, at times, to get both the printer & scanner operating in unison with the computer, but if I shut the system down for the night, the same problem is probably going to return the next time I turn the computer on. Since I bought this particular unit because of its ability to scan slides, at this point I feel like scanning the slides that I have and then selling (or discarding!) this all-in-one printer. Any advice you might offer will be much appreciated. Harold Albert Thailand

Unplug the printer's USB cord, and from the control panel, uninstall the printer drivers. Re-install the printer drivers, THEN plug in the printer.

Trying connecting the USB printer to some other computer,
to see if the other computer recognizes the printer.

Try a different USB port on your computer.

Try a different USB-device (memory-stick? camera?) into your USB port, to confirm that the USB-port is working.

Are you conecting via USB? If so, did you wait to connect the USB cable until the installation advised you to? If not, uninstall the software and driver, unplug the USB cable, reinstall the software and driver, and when prompted, plug in the USB cable.
