Your problem is more than likely due to a bad/broken connection on the inside of the antenna connector. If you're brave, and handy with a soldering iron, you can open the case and check/resolder the two joints at the connector. Otherwise, take it to a local electronics shop. It's a simple repair, but only for those who know their way around inside a scanner.

I need help on where to plug in the The fm ant. Wire on the back of the system.

Hello,
The conector to plug your FM antenna into the receiver is called an F-connector. This should be easy to find because its in most cases it's the only connector of that type on the back of the receiver. It is threaded to accept a male F connector from the antenna that you can either simply slide on or screw on depending on the antenna type.

2-3 years old, acquring signal, not ant-error,

Do you get audio out of the stereo jack? Do you have the proper antenna with TWO leads for TERR and SAT ? It could also be as simple as your antenna alignment not being to the SW, or you could have had a local repeater get shutdown. Also, this radio is several years old (designed in 2001) and could be 'shot' already from heat damage as these get really hot. I would try the radio in the car with a car antenna perched on the roof and see if it works; if it does, then it's your antenna alignment. Good luck my friend and report back please.

Is it necessary to bring the signal from the ant. if I never intend to record? Do I still need to use the "out to tv" hook up?

If you want to watch TV you will need to hook the antenna to ANT. IN and run a coaxial cable from OUT TO TV to ANT. IN on the TV. Otherwise disconnect the antenna from everything. Good luck to you!

Kenwood KVT-512 iphone compatibility

Just ignore the airplane mode prompt and if your wiring is correct everything should work.
With my BMW I had to connect both the solid blue (pwr ant) wire and the blue with white stripe (p conn) to the solid blue wire from the factory harness.

It isn't obvious that either of these are needed as the KVT-512 has it's own power supply but the way most factory power amps are installed the power from the KVT-512 is not used and the car manufacturers power amp needs to be turned on.

If you are listening to the radio the pwr ant wire will turn on the power amp, this didn't seem obvious because the BMW doesn't have a power antenna. And when you are using the DVD player or the iPod connection you need the P Conn wire to turn on the car power amp as the ant pwr is disabled because you are no longer using the radio and Kenwood assumes you will not need the antenna so no power to this lead.

Solder all three wires together and you should have sound all the time.
