My PS2 once came with a error telling read error for every disc.after that i uncoved my PS2 for a clean up, by the way i was told to adjust a white gear.
I started with my work by adjusting the white gear little by little.now i am getting a error telling No data.when the DVD is given inside, the CDROM just spins it once, the scren says reading disk and just goes off.
Is my laser burned or is it a problem with Data CABLE that connects the lens?. Pls Help.
Adjusting the white gear is usually a temp fix. If your lucky and you move it one click at a time, It'll offset to a point where it will read the discs again.
Whats happening is the drive shaft is warping. This is a very common problem in all of the ps2 units.
You have 2 options.
They sell replacement ps2 cd roms if you look around with google.
Option 2 would be purchase a new ps2. Its roughly going to cost you $80.00 US to get a replacement cd rom for the ps2. Price different for a new one would be 30 bucks or so.
Personally i'd just snag a new system. The newer one's have fixed the cd rom problem so it won't happen.
