My start/select button act as though i am pressing them consistantly but obviously i am not. Also, when ever i am in a game and i press my home button, it seems to be stuck on NO. I have reason to believe...

Hi omar199562,
Do a system restore by going to SETTINGS (farthest to the left of your main menu)-> SYSTEM SETTINGS -> RESTORE DEFAULT SETTINGS. If this does not fix the problem, you may need to open the face plate of your unit to check for any lodged -in particles or any defects associated with your PSP's HOME/START button bar. I hope the system restore fixes the problem so that you dont have to go to the hassle of dissembling your PSP. By the way, if the unit is still under warranty, it will be best for you to not do anything and let the technicians fix it for you because tinkering with your PSP may void the warranty. All the best to you my fellow PSP enthusiast.

How to fix Volume issues in PSP Portable

How to Fix a PSP Volume Button through Software
Check to be sure that your PlayStation Portable's AVLS (Automatic Volume Limiter System) is turned off.
Start your PSP without a game in it. Choose "Settings," then select "Sound Settings." If the AVLS option is "ON," turn it "OFF."
Check to see that your memory stick is inserted properly if the sound still does not work. This often interferes with the volume control. Remove the memory stick and reinsert it.
Perform a hard reset of your PSP if the volume still does not work. To do this, first unplug your PSP and remove any games or memory sticks. Then remove the battery from its cavity on the back. Press and hold any button for five seconds, then reinstall your battery.
Move on to hardware solutions if none of the above options work
How to Fix a PSP Volume Button through Hardware
Remove your PlayStation Portable's battery pack, any games and memory sticks. Unplug it.
Unscrew all five screws that hold the faceplate onto your PSP. The fifth is hard to locate, so find it just below the screen on the bottom edge.
Clean the button heads underneath the volume buttons with a small cloth. You should also clean the Home button nearby as this often interferes with the volume button.
Return the faceplate and screws, and test your PSP.

Select and home button malfunction.

I used to have the same problem. Unfortunately, this is because your PSP has become physically damaged. The music button has been permanently locked in the pressed position, and whenever you hit Home, it thinks you are releasing the Music button, which mutes the system. This specific problem I have dealt with personally. I assume the other two are similar in nature. Unfortunately, all you can do about this is to get it fixed (somehow...), by a new psp, or learn to deal with it :(

If fixing and dealing with it is not an option, why not use it as an excuse to pick up a psp go when it drops? or if the lack of UMD is a turnoff, maybe a slim (if you don't have that already)

Sorry dude.
